When it comes to history she knows her stuff. But, for someone who has never designed anything herself she overstepped her bounds when it came to critiquing personal style and beliefs. As unprofessional as it was, she chastised, embarassed, and tried to cut grades when it was clear we both believed in two different styles of architecture.

Singletary is really hard on all her students. In the first year techers are trying to weed out the students who don't have a passion for architecture. She gives a lot of work and expects a lot. She's mostly about concept so if you have a good concept the design isn't so important if it remains true to the concept. She's good but hard.

Her history classes arent easy - know every slide b/c theres a lot of information on each for the exams. Make sure your case study is done well. Very informative on the history of architecture ~ its interesting if you like that sort of stuff

I dropped design and left Philadelphia University after this class. My dreams of being a designer were shattered by this woman, probably for the best. She is a witch but knowns what she is doing. I still would not recommend taking her, unless you have a heart of steel.

She is anal about what she wants and constantly contradicts herself in her directions. She missed 5 classes before thanksgiving alone, which may sound nice, but then you will have to make up about 2 weeks worth of work in about 2 nights. She quickly takes favorites, luckily i was on her good side.

Comment:

Susanne is amazing. Go to class, sleep sometimes, but keep up on your notes. Tests are easy if you know how to study for them. Gives out lots of info but a fun class to go to. the class trips are also a good time. Put hard work into the project.
