Prof Thorps class was always my favorite class to end the day with. He really made sure everyone in class that day understood the material and made it entertaining. He is very helpful as he sets out essays for you and literally gives you the template for you to add your own words. Theres a quiz every Thursday so reading the book is mandatory.

There are only a few papers that need to be written in his class, but his grading style is awkward. He pretty much just wanted our class to repeat the notes he gave us on the essays verbatim. Expressing independent thought on the text can cause you to lose points. Other than that, he's very knowledgable.

Thorp is a super easy class if you read, show up, and take notes in class. There is usually a reading quiz every thursday... which cannot be spark-noted so don't try, just read the book. That's as simple as it gets. One thing I will say though is to not slack off in the beginning of the semester bc it could cost you from going from an A to a B.

He's a very interesting professor, wants his students to succeed and is a very reasonable grader. My suggestion is to either email him your paper or go see him outside of class about it because he will help you make it an A paper. Also the reading assignments were short (10 pages). My only complaint was that he wasn't too clear on grading.

Honestly he made philosophy fun and understandable. Tells you exactly what he wants in his papers and is always available for help. TIP: you will have to read the stuff he assigns because he gives quizzes but he will let you know about them ahead of time. Overall GREAT TEACHER.

Thorp is amazing! His class was the highlight of my week. He will defiantly open your mind if you let him. Philosophy is suppose to show you different ways of thinking. Thorp is out there but he is so smart and approachable. Don't be afraid to ask questions cause its important to follow his thought process.

He's a really nice teacher. You read the books in class so make sure you have it with you but don't forget to read by yourself too. He also does notes on the board and lets you use them when you write essays. Any quiz he gives you is pretty easy. When you write the essays he pretty much tells you what to write. Overall this was a great class.

He's an awesome teacher. The quizes can be hard, but the papers are not bad. I took philosophy before and my last intructor promised that my views in the world will change, but no. Thorp answered a few of my big questions to life. It's a good class. Always attend bc it always helps A LOT on how to write your papers or what to know on the quiz.

Dr. Thorp is an exellent prof. who knows his stuff and extremly approachable and helpful. His clases essencially are based on a final essay, but all the assignments build up to the essay. If you do the readings, go to class, and do the assignments you end up with a good peice of writing. If you write with a good, supported arguements it's a sure A.

Prof. Thorp is a very good teacher. He has a knack for putting complex ideas (like Heidegger's) into plain language, and his sense of humor helps liven things up. He knows his material backwards and forwards, but is always open to learning more about it. He is kind of lax on returning your work. He is available for help outside of class.
