Comment:

Tamal is clearly very intelligent and enthusiastic in the realm of theoretical computer science. However, he occasionally comes across as demeaning and somewhat intimidating. He grades his exams in a pretty harsh, all-or-nothing approach. Curves the average to a B at the end, which is nice, but perhaps look elsewhere for a 2331 prof.

Great teacher. Wants his class to learn and really enjoys teaching the class. He is very easy to talk to and really wants everyone to understand the material. Explains everything very well. One of the best teachers I've had at OSU so far.

Class is generally tough. Had a nice curve in the end, a C+ became a B+. Homeworks and midterms are graded harshly. 4/10 Accent, sometimes its hard to understand; sit close to the front of the room.

Caring, father-figured, helpful, and probably one of the best professors I have got during my college years. He is a true master of algorithms in terms of concepts and applications. His exams and homework-s are challenging but it's rewarding!

I ignored all the recommendations of taking this class with one of the other professors... it was a huge mistake... AVOID HIS CLASSES. boring, and exams that are unrealistic. he doesn't care - I emailed him questions through the semester, and he responded to less than 10% of my questions. also impossible to get an A.

I benefited from Dey's class on algorithms. He is a true master of the subject. Dont take his class if you are not prepared for learning conceptual materials.

Took the same class with another prof. that was much better. he's teaching approach is terrible in my opinion, and I did not benefit at all from this prof. I think that unless you want to work with - don't take his class - other prof do much better job... I suffered in this class, and not because of the material..

By far the best professor I have taken a course with. It was so interesting that I didn't even mind coming in at 8:30 in the cold. Is a bit stern but if you ignore that and listen to him you will love the class. If you are not looking for an easy A go for Tamal instead of other professors.

The fact is that this guy becomes angry if you ask him a question which seems trivial to him. He is very rude and does not behave well sometimes. He has studied the Cormen's book well and teaches it in a boring manner. He repeats questions in the exam. Hence if you collect past years question you will earn a free A grade which is definitely good
