I just came back from a study abroad class that he taught in Oxford. I'm not quite sure why everyone is complaining about him. Dr. Lerud is an extremely personable teacher and conversational. He is also extremely knowledgeable and made me enthusiastic about the material.

Dr. Lerud challenges his students, but he is very helpful if you take the time to show an interest in his subject. I enjoyed the challenging nature of his class. It is not true that he gives all students "Cs" because I was given an A in his class.

WORST TEACHER EVER!!! He gives everyone a "C" no matter how hard they try. Nobody ever gets an "A". He made my class write an essay a week and see three plays outside of class which can be expensive. He builds no relationships with his students and I've seen him make one cry because of his grading. I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO EVERYONE HAVE HIM!

He is not consistent with grading procedures. He does not explain assignments clearly. Creates a very hostile learning environment if you do not agree with him. The best part of the class is attending the Shakespeare play, but other than that, avoid this professor at all costs.

i don't know how anyone can have anything good to say about this guy! i agree, waste of $$, the only thing im learning in this class is what a huge difference having a professor who actually cares makes. he barely wants to be there. doesn't even try to fake it. unclear assignments & seems to grade based on whether or not you agree with his views

Difficult grader, but a nice person. He needs to be more clear about what exactly he expects to be in the papers he assigns. He lets you make up assignments if you miss any.

He was HORRIBLE. I took this class in highschool and understood everything, but his class was insane. I got a C in that class because he's such a hard grader, which is my first C in years. Plus he creeps me out and I've caught him staring at my chest a couple of times. Ew. I would definitely not suggest this class to ANYONE.

I agree..impossible! I took it for a gen. ed. lit. class & as an el. ed. major was stuck with all eng. majors! So much work, so unclear with grading. I did all my work, thought I was fine, got a D..now I have to take ANOTHER lit. class! UGH!

His classes are impossible. They involve a lot of thinking...but you have no idea what you're supposed to be thinking ABOUT. He grades with no constant criteria and he doesn't explain ANYTHING. He's impossible.

Fun during the travel period, but unclear about the essay assingment and a little bit of a tough grader. He's a very easy going guy, bordering on boring. You can still see the hippie beneath his quiet facade, though.

Avoid his classes if at all possible, especially if they are morning classes. Can we say Ben Stein in Ferris Beuler? Not worth the money it costs to take the credits.

I donĂ¢€™t think all pistons are firing, but there is still a bit of spontaneous combustion which may make the class worth it. He is a fun man and I donĂ¢€™t mean hilarious.

I heard horror stories about Lerud, but they were not true, at least in my class. He requires a lot of reading, but so do all Lit classes. He excels at making sure the class understands the material and doesn't single anyone out as having a wrong opinion.
