His bark is surely bigger than his bite. He will seem horrible in the beginning but he gets better with time. Do your work and do it on time! Make sure to do the TIYS, they will really help your grade in the end. He not is not very helpful tho, MUST PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS & take notes!

Warning! He is a tough professor and a VERY hard grader!My life revolved around this class. If you are stuck with him, make sure you do all of the TIYS.He is a great guy outside of class. He is the worse professor I have ever experienced in my four years at Temple. He is not funny, he takes 3 days to do one power point chapter, and is only sensitive to male suburban kids. He is also very weird, and I am almost positive from his stories that he has hemerrohoids also.... Just weird.

Will weed out those who are incompetent but well worth it if you stick with it. My class started with 30+ ended w/ 8. I don't know of anyone who had a negative experience at the end of it. It was hard but definitely prepared you for a real job. In the end you will respect what he tried to do for you, the ones who wouldn't quit when it got hard.

We started with about 30 students and it dropped to 10. He seems like a real jerk in the beginning because he wants to weed the people out that won't do anything. After the first few weeks it was actually cool. I was going to drop but I'm glad I didn't do it. It ended up being very beneficial.

Horrendous, the only reason he is a teacher is because it is the only industry where he can get away with calling people "idiots" and "retards" and thats the first day of class, if put out in the real world would recieve a culture shock. I refuse to pay money to be insulted for no reason by a person, with such little respect for others and himself

Best class I ever took at Temple. The learning in this class won't come from a book or directly from the teacher. Instead he creates a hands on situation where you learn by doing. His class requires a lot of work, but it is worth it. Negative comments come from the oversensitive or those who dropped the class. Stick with it and you'll be fine.

If you make it through the first month with Oliva you will probably end up really liking him. He is a fantastic teacher. It is a lot of work, but you are actually learning. I'm telling you by the end of the semester it may be your favorite class.

Oliva is the kind of person who nobody likes, he is disgusting and his attitude is the worst. He doesn't explain what he wants from his students and then he belittles them in front of the class. Today he called somebody stupid all day and thought it was funny. I know why he teaches... he was rejected by the business world along with society.AVOID!
