Very understanding. Willing to meet with people outside of class and help them. Only complaint is that on occasion she gets a bit too preachy about diversity, but this wasnt a regular occurrence thankfully. Only grades off a few papers and projects though so put effort into those. Would recommend.

In this class, she is a tough grader; but if you understand the criteria you should not have that much of a problem passing the class. she is caring and her critiques and feedback are helpful to get a better grade on your essay. If you need help with essays, go to the library with your paper; it helps (if you struggle).

I was a bit skeptical about taking this class due to all the reviews. She's a nice teacher but this class was honestly a drag. I regretted not taking English 5 instead, she required so much work and she is also a tough grader. If you are looking for an easy A this class is not for you

If you are looking for an easy A, do not take this class! She makes you work for your grade, and she is very fair. I honestly loved this class and thought it was easy. She gives great feedback and pushes you to be a great writer. Total of 3 papers on your own, 1 group research paper, 1 group presentation and a portfolio including all of your essays

honestly, I thought by taking this class it would be easier to have it spread out than put together in a single semester. I thought wrong. In this class alone she expects us to complete two research papers and an essay by the end of the semester. Super boring and a waste of time Good news is that there's basically no tests, only a few quizzes

She IS a tough grader, however, you will improve your writing skills immensely. Not only will you write better, but you will also gain a better understanding of how writing is done in your major. The essay prompts can be a little confusing, so you should ask for help when you need it. She lets you see essays from past semesters which help A LOT!

I took this class expecting the worst (I read this page before taking the class). However, I must say that I had a different experience . I found her to be extremely friendly and helpful. All I can say is that if you'd like an easy A, then this class is not for you. If you want to improve your writing skills, take this class.

She is probably the worst English professor i've ever had. She's very unclear in what she's looking for throughout essays. She talks to the class like we're 5 years old. Very hard grader and expects a lot out of you without helping. Class is very boring and she's moody sometimes. I do not recommend taking her class.

Professor Cordova read straight from our textbooks everyday which was boring but it meant I didn't have to read them. I didn't learn anything about Children's Literature so it was a waste of my time. The directions to write the papers were not specific. No tests just 2 papers and a final binder that takes time.

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!! Her class lectures are extremely boring and a waste of time, but you have to go to them or you lose points. She is super unclear about what she wants in the essays, So far we've written two essays and if your ideas don't coincide with her opinion you'll get a bad grade. She doesn't give any helpful feedback to improve work.

As an ESL student I won't recommend this class to ESL students! It's really a hard class for ESL students! I took this class because I didn't know there's 109M for ESL students. Overall I think this class is OK. At least she allows you to revise your papers as many time you want. Therefore there's no way you will fail this class!

Before this class, I loved English and now I hate it. All we do is revise the same essays all year. Grading is hard. She does not make the class interesting. The essay topics are not interesting and the essays are too demanding. For example 4 page essay on what you like about the fall season

Good professor. We had to do 4 essays, hw assignments, and journal assignments. I got a D+/C- on my first 2 essays, but she comments on them and lets you edit/revise them to get a better grade. Ended up getting an A on the final portfolio, which is also your final grade in the class.

She is extremely hard and unclear what she wants in your papers. She makes you write a ton of essays & all you do for the class is revise. Unless you're awesome at writing I do not recommend her!

She is a very confusing professor, the essay assignments she gives us are very complicated to write or even write a outline because she requires way too many things in a 3 page essay. I wouldn't recommend taking this class, its too stressful and she loads way too much for a 3 unit class, unless you have strong writing skills.

She is a great professor! She is really nice and is willing to help out her students. She is also very passionate about English and want her students to become better readers and writers. I would recommend getting her, easy class the only negative thing is that sometimes when she gives out assignments they can be confusing sometimes.

She takes roll every class. I thought she was very clear with her lectures and was straight forward with her assignments and papers. All engl109W require the same writings for the portfolio and you get the whole semester to work on that portfolio in her class. About 3 journal assignments and the rest of the work were just composing the portfolio
