Comment:
In fiction writing, you write a 15 page short story. Every week, your read three of your peers stories and critique them (gently) in class. It was a healthy, respectful environment. Terrance just guides the class. It's the students who drive the discussion. It's scary at first, but really fun once you get into it. Be prepared to read. A lot.

I love Terrance, I have taken multiple classes with him and changed my minor to writing because of how inspiring he is and I know I am not the only one. His class is done like a Socratic seminar but there is no pressure to talk. Read the material and really think about it. Fantastic professor.

Kinda an intense guy I would suggest taking his online class he is not that bad online. Gives somewhat good feedback definitely go to the writing center and have them proof read your work. Tough grader on grammar and making sure you have a strong and clear thesis.

Comment:
I took a fiction workshop with Terrance and the hardest thing was how much I needed to write. We had some great discussions but writing a 15 page story and a 3 page letter in response to everyone else's story is quite a bit of work, even spread out over the term. It's quite a bit of work, but the discussions are great and Terrance is a lot of fun.

If you haven't written in a very long time do not take this class with this teacher online. It was my understanding that WR-121 was not terribly difficult, very entry level. I found out that this was not the way Mr. Millet did things. I was able to drop his class in get into a non online class and the difference is frankly astounding.

Instructions were sometimes hard to follow and he was no help with clarification. Took three days after assignment deadline to respond to my questions about the essay. Topics are all political and hard to elaborate on if you aren't very into politics. I would never take a class from him again.

Terrance is one of my favorite English teachers and the best one LBCC has. His classes are very discussion based, so be prepared to talk during class. He values your individuality in your writing and rewards hard work. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Comment:
Essay topics are fascinating and made the writing enjoyable for me (even though the first was quite challenging in nature). Primary disappointment is lack of line by line feedback on the essays as I feel this is the best way to become a better writer.

Terrance really pushes his students. I understand his thinking but for an 100 level online class with no lecture it was difficult and time consuming. I think he would be great in class rather than online.

Terrance is extremely unclear in all of his assignments, and the feedback that he gives you about your assignments contradict the instructions he gives you. He is unclear about his topics for papers, and when you send him an email asking him to clarify, he jerks you around and tells you to look for youself.

I thought his class would be tough, but it was fine. His instructions are sometimes unclear but he's very willing to clarify if you send him an email. Gives you very good feedback on your writing and is very helpful. I really enjoyed his class.

Terrance is a joy to have as an instructor. He is a brilliant teacher for a workshop because he lets the workshop be what it is supposed to be and not just a class. Will explain obscure concepts if you are bold enough to ask. Has an amusing sense of humor and opens avenues that allow the serious writer to get their work out there. He's a great guy.

Professor Millet is a phenomenal teacher. He doesn't just explain the material to you, he wants you to learn to analyze the material-- the deeper meaning. If you pay attention, participate during discussion, and read all the material you will definitely benefit from this class. However, his class requires A LOT of reading and two papers every week.

He was such a great professor for a film studies class. He was always open for us to ask questions and even though his assignments are very time consuming (one to three hours each week after the movies) I learned a lot about the subject of film! THANKS MILLET!

He was clear on his assignments but I didn't feel he was the best teacher for a writing class/workshop. He does not explain a lot of things and most of the time it is the students talking to each other about their work.
