Dr. Alford was by far my favorite professor. He is really funny when giving his lectures and is easy to keep up with. He gives extra credit opportunities and is easy to work with if you have special needs in the class i.e. a laptop or tape recorder. I would easily take his class again.

I took Dr. Alford for an entire year for 121122. He was an amazing professor! He is so sweet and he works with you to get that A. He loves his job and I enjoyed being his student! I hated history before but with him I enjoyed every class I had! You won't regret having him, I was so blessed to be one of his students. :

A true expert in his field who brings the text book to life! This teacher will bring an energy to history you never knew existed in the world. He's actively involved with appearances on the smithsonian History channel for his book release on Lincoln's death. Take notes and you will pass all exams based on his lectures in class.

Dr Alford is the BEST history teacher ever. The lectures are interesting and organized. A lot of the times he can be funny while teaching. His tests are easy because they come directly from the notes. But what matters is that you work and study hard. You will pass his class and like it very much! TAKE HIM!

Dr. Alford is by far the best history professor I've ever had. He's fun, funny, and really brings history to life. Take careful notes and review, and the tests are no problem either. Tests are multiple choice, although sometimes he words them in a tricky way. Take him! You will not regret it... Unless you don't show up for class... Then you might.

He makes history actually interesting. He gives details on the lives of historical people, which makes it more interesting and easy to remember. He's a great professor and he even helped make the "Lincoln" movie (not the vampire one). He's a true professional and is very knowledgeable.

Like I said after HIS 121, this teacher is amazing! I loved every minute of class because he is so interesting. You can tell that Dr. Alford is so passionate about History once he get's excited abt a subject his lectures only get more interesting. He is so positive & wants you to do well. Please take him, you won't regret it. Don't buy the textbook

ALFORD! He is seriously such an amazing professor. He makes everything funny, and it really makes class interesting. Instead of zoning off like I normally would in a history class, I was excited for his class because he would always bring a smile to my face. His exams are easy, and he goes slow on powerpoints while you're taking notes.

This man is FANTASTIC I had to change my schedule and his class became my only option...you can't believe how happy I was about that 2 days into the class. He makes the class fun and interesting and you really look forward to every class. Does not like to see you fail so he'll pull you aside and give you a chance to re-do a test. Please take him :)

Best HIS professor you'll take at NOVA. Gives great lectures. Exams are straight from the notes and what he says in lecture. Gives one essay 3-4 pages thats really easy and gave us an extra credit assignment because of all the snow days. Taking him again for HIS 122.

He makes learning history interesting. Everything on the test is what he writes on the board. If you show up to class with a pencil and paper, you'll do fine. I failed the first exam because of my work schedule and he let me retake it, after he saw that I did so well on the second one. Best professor if you want to learn or just pass history

I thought I was gonna fail the test, since there is no hw and no study guides. I failed one test but ended up getting an A. He truly tries to make the class fun and make everyone laugh. He does a good job at it. Also everything he testes you on is on the notes. His 1st two tests are common sense. His class was fun and hes a great professor.

PLEASE consider Dr. Alford, he is a wonderful professor and even during a bad day I come out of class smiling. He is dedicated to the course and to his students. You don't need a text book, just take down the notes. He is so humorous and kind, he is my favorite teacher. Believe all the comments you see about him. He is great, I'm going to take 122.
