I was an Eng. TA at my last school, but my credits did not transfer and I was forced into Murphy's class. She is, without a doubt, the most infuriating professor I have ever dealt with. Rude, pretentious, overly self-important, and inflexible. The worst kind of academic tyrant. If you have any other responsibilities, avoid her at all costs!

Murphy overall is a good teacher. Although her grading is a little skeptical. As long as you fix your mistakes its easy to pass although fixing your mistakes includes a lot of homework unless you're a genius at grammar, etc. She does call on her students randomly in class and will make you feel stupid if you don't know the answer.

She can be very tough at first, but she's a pretty good teacher and won't give you any trouble as long as you actually attempt the work. Very good at accepting opposing beliefs.

Dr. Murphy says everything she does in class has a point. I didn't always understand the point of some of the things she has us do. She grades specifically on grammar, and for a composition class, I never understood the point. However, her lectures are current and based on things going on in the world. I noticed a huge improvement in my writing.

I absolutely HATED this class. She makes students do embarrassing things like recite poems in unison. often. and will make you repeat them if it is not loud enough. Yes, you feel like a second grader. Grading is unfair. She takes points off your final grade for each error so, you can get do 'A' work on every paper and still receive a 'B', or below.

This is my 2nd semester with her. She is not understanding of the fact that students have lives other than her class. She is VERY narcissistic. Once you sign up for her class, there is no world other than the one that revolves around her class. For example we have to pass our notes in. Her syllabus says OR ELSE everywhere. We are in college people!

Nice but demanding. Not afraid to pinpoint people in class. Especially true if you speak to someone else, don't have all your work completed, or have a different opinion of her. It hasn't happened to me, but I saw her do it to others several times. However, very passionate about what she does, and definitely knows what she's talking about.

I like Terry Lee, and I like the class, but she is a little too opinionated and not open to questions or comments that are valid, but may not go along with exactly what she thinks is right. And she's not polite about it either.

She was very energetic about her classes. I did not find that the material we covered in class was related to the proper topics. Writing class consisted of more reading then the reading class actually did.
