He instilled in me a love of plays and the theater. I took two courses from him, both immensely rewarding. He was one of that last generation of scholars who demanded rigorous thinking from his students. Humanities education has mutated into something beyond recognition during the past 40 years; professors of his caliber are sorely missed.

IF you needed an EGO massage, you shouldn't have taken his course. 30 yrs later I retain little from PSU. However, I won't forget Grecco. He made us think. It was amazing how plays we read in high school looked much different after Grecco's class. Yes, he called on me, yes I cringed, yes my opinions were naive. He was honest, direct and fair.

I took his class back in 1997 I think. I still have never forgotten this man and the effect he had on me. While I only took the creative writing class (entry level) for fun, the experience still haunts me. I dropped the class but still attended. He was kind enough to say nothing and continue to grade my work. Wish I would've learned more from him.

don't take a class with grecco unless you want to learn. basically, stephen grecco is an excellent source of knowledge. he's brilliant and if you approach him with an open mind, i think you'll learn more. smaller class size is best with him, helps alleviate some of his intimidative nature.

The guy is so smart, but you know how intensly smart people have no commons sense, well he has some but he has no kindness. I'm pretty sure his soul is black just by how he speaks (he makes Ben Stein look flamboyant.) Take him if you want to be intimidated and feel stupid...see better professors!

This no-nonsense approach to class is a double edged sword; you read a lot and get some stuff out of it but there is no room for breathing. Be prepared to forget your own opinions or fail, read your email every day or you will miss out on stuff like I did. Just pretent to be happy...

Mr. Grecco uses the old school, no nonsense Ivy league method of teaching. Most students, who view college as just an obstacle before a career, will be turned off. He is challenging and therefore rewarding if you actually possess intellectual curosity.

HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS. He HATES students and god help you if he begins to pick on you...will call on you in class for an OPINION and then will proceed to make you look like a fool for not answering as HE sees fit...everyday for an entire sem.
