Overall he is a great prof! Very knowledgeable and the lectures we not boring. He marks fairly easily. As long as you go to class you should do well. He is very understanding and a good lecturer.

Phenomenal professor, truly one of the best in the history department. Don't skip class and do the reading and you will do well, otherwise the course is set up in a manner that all but ensures your failure if you dont come to class and stay ontop of readings

had him twice, 2nd year Islamic Civilization and 3rd year Sassanian history, i can tell you he is as good as it gets. His marking is very reasonable, as he does not mark for grammar, but that does not mean his courses are easy, as u will certainly not do well if u skip lecture. If you actually want to learn about Middle eastern history hes the man

Excellent professor, frequent guest on TV to explain Mid East politics, very fair marker. Makes the subject very interesting. Knows very well his subject after all the dude is a top grad of Georgetown. What else to say? Very punctual so show up in time and last found out he was a big Arsenal fan like myself :-)

He is an amazing prof and the best i ever had, learned a lot of things in his lectures. Lot of fascinating topicsta take Sarah but make sure to get readings assigned done or else your done withalso be on time during his lectures and don't leave in between his lectures, he doesn't like that. Books are all online and doesn't post anything online

Amazing professor teaching an extremely interesting topic. He is one of the best professors I've ever had during my 3 years at York. His lectures are super interesting and his exams are very fair. unbiased prof, shows you both sides of the story. This course + professor + TA (Shiraz) THE BEST COURSE EVER! I highly recommend taking it, no regret

Prof. Abdullah has been my favourite prof i've had. His lectures are amazing, so much information, they are extremely interesting. He is very fair, just never be late to his class because he'll stop his lecture and just tell you to sit down (politely), Awesome guy!

You better not walk in even a minute after he's begun, he'll politely ask you to take a seat :'D Never once fell asleep during his lecture which says a lot coming from a avid sleeper. Thabit Abdullah is a passionate, straight to the point, easy to approach to professor. I took this class as an elective and I enjoyed every minute of it. Not an easy A course, but the effort you put is exactly the mark you get. Attend ALL his lectures since he doesn't post powerpoints. Midterm and Final were fair and nothing was surprising.

Fantastic, passionate professor who really cares about students. Put the effort in, care about the class, and you'll get a LOT back from him. Very austere, so take the class seriously and be respectful. Very well structured & interesting lectures, even when difficult. Eliminated some textbooks to save us money. And yes, Shiraz is indeed awesome.
