Comment:

She's very easy going and nice. Her class is super boring, you really only need to show up for your speech days (3 by yourself, 1 with a group as final), super clear rubrics and an easy grader, there are a few quizzes that are based off book but can be found online. It was a definite easy A.

I had her for speech and it was the easiest A I have ever gotten. 3 speeches and 2 quizzes. Only have to go to class on your presentation day and when there is a quiz. Tells you exactly how to do your speech. Super helpful. 11/10 recommend her for your speech class! I hate giving speeches, but this was one of my favourite classes!

She is a very sweet lady, but as a professor she seemed a little disorganized. For the first few months of class we did not do much of anything there was no real reason to even show up. Then in the last few weeks of class we had papers, projects, and quizzes galore. Did not enjoy the group project debates. But that also depends on your group.

Professor Shaton is nice and very reasonable. As long as you do well on the debate and have a good group you will do well. However, it is not an interesting class and she is a little unorganized. She runs her class in a laid back manner, so grades are given a week or two after doing an assignment or test. She also does not use D2l.

Overall this is a pretty easy class. It was three quizzes, two outlines, two individual speeches, and one group speech. She literally gives you the format and what she wants for the speeches as long as you go to class. You do not have to attend all the classes. If you want an easy class where you have to put in minimal work this class is for you.

Do not expect emails back because she will not answer. She promised the opportunity to fix our speech outlines yet we never saw any of the outlines after we handed them in, yet alone the corresponding grades for said outlines. With the quizzes and actual speeches I received I expected a high B in the class and was completely blind-sided by a C.

lectures on about random stuff and ends every lecture with "But you don't need to know that' took midterm last week of class. random quizzes. doesn't take attendances and blames it on the weather even if its not bad. curves grade but the whole time its up in the air have no idea where you stand. good heart but stressful. no d2l

Professor Shaton makes class easy because she knows her students don't want to be there. She takes attendance sporadically, but I've skipped a lot and got a B so it's not graded heavily. As long as you show up most of the time and work on your speech ahead of time, you should get at least a B. The text isn't really required like she says it is.

I would most definitely take her for Communications. The other speech professors that my friends had sounded horrible compared to her. She is extremely laid back! You won't regret it! TAKE HER! Don't really have to go to class. She doesn't take attendance but she does explain exactly what she wants in the speech in her lectures.

she pretty much didn't care who was there and who wasn't. people didn't even come on their assigned speech days and she never got pissed. she doesn't answer e-mails and she forgets easily. and i hardly ever went because she rambles a lot.. she is nice, though. and the speeches aren't hard to give because she's so laid back so it feels comfortable.

Comment:

Professor Shaton is by far the best professor on this campus. Not only does she teach her classes well and explain everything she wants, but she also makes it nearly impossible to fail. (I have her for both Debate and Voice&Diction.) She's extremely helpful, espcially if you go talk to her or send an email. I love her and her classes.

This class is farely easy. Class is kind of boring. Theres really no reason to go unless your giving a speech. She takes attendence once in a while. It's good to go so you learn how to do outlines and certain things for your speech. Not a bad prof to take.
