Prof. Allen was an interesting teacher but the class definitely wasn't easy.

Dr. Allen is a great teacher who really helped me become a better writer. Gradewise: I think we've all become a bit spoiled due to UR's nototiously easy grading. I mean, most of my friends in class got B's, myself included. He's more than fair, IMO.

The people on here who gave good reviews were the ones whose papers he liked and visa versa. If he likes the way you write, you're in. If he doesn't, you're digging yourself out of a hole the whole semester. I'm an english major and I didn't emjoy the class. very boring, blocked everything out.

Dr. Allen. What can I say. Yakety-yakety-yakety. Will he ever shut up? No one in class ever gets a word in because he's just going on and on and on. Sheesh. And don't even get me started about office visits. One plus: Stunningly handsome.

Dr. Allen is a tough grader, sometimes takes way too long to respond to e-mails, but he makes so many great connections between things in class. I think he's really smart, good sense of humor, and not too bad to sit through an hour of him talking. Also, willing to compromise w/students.

I found this to be one of the most boring classes I took at UR. Prof Allen can be rude, and take offense easily. He's very intelligent and challenges you, but grades very hardly and expects too much at times.

Dr. Allen's not so bad, he's pretty entertaining in class and good at leading discussions, we even related what we were reading to stuff going on on campus sometimes. He's not particularily helpful one on one though, and his grading is tough, but fair.

I found Dr. Allen's class to be the least enjoyable class I have taken at UR--and I'm an English major. He is dry, and totally unpersonable outside of class. He did not make me interested in any of the texts we read.

Dr. Allen is an excellent professor. He understands what it means to be a student, as he's a pretty young guy. He focuses more on trying to get students to develop their thoughts than on minutia. Every time I walked out of class, I felt smarter.
