Exploring the Universe was one of the easiest classes i've ever had to take. Its good to fill a natural science GE, you only take 3 multiple choice tests all year and the final is all multiple choice. Do not buy the textbook, never opened it and got an A-.the entire class is graded on a curve. funny teacher, dont need to show up to class,easy class

This class is horrible. He never takes attendance. He gives out a schedule but doesn't follow it and he never assigns reading out of the textbook so don't waste your money like me. He grades his test on a tangent and gives u a study guide online with answers before them. Basicially don't go to class and check blackboard for study guides every week.

[Exploring the Solar System Class] Crepets the man. I went around 6 times the whole year, cheated on 2 of the 3 tests (via the study guides he provides) and pulled an A-. Incredubly nice, reasonable man. No need for the expensive text book. You wont learn much but it is mad easy. No hw, no reading, just 3 tests n lab.

Seems like a nice guy, but he seriously cannot teach. Seems to repeat himself in lectures, attendance isn't mandatory, tests are M/C but hard. He posts study guides, and if you use only those you get a C on midterm. definitely a BS class.

this guys is a scatter brain. i came into the class with a high interest in the subject, and left totally uninterested. we only went to the planetarium once. towards the end I just stopped showing up to class because we did the same thing every day... (he honesly showed the same 10 slides for the first month of school)

I took him for 2 consecutive semesters (exploring the solar system and exploring the universe). As much as he tried, he was very unhelpful. I managed to get a C from him both times while working my butt off. I feel bad for him.

This class put everyone to sleep. Expected us to know things he never taught. He never followed the syllabus and we became several classes behind. He curves tests but test material does not always reflect lectures. Average tests grades for my class so far- 64&68. Enough said.

Tom was a very nice teacher, he really cared about students' progress. He grades with a nice curve, as long as you do your part in the class you should be fine. Don't listen to what others have to say about him. He was a good teacher, I would definatley take another class with him. He as great!!

this professor is incompetent. the lectures are worthless, and his tests are obscure and randomly arranged. there is zero structure to the class, don't expect to be able to stay on track because the syllabus is useless. this is the worst class i've ever taken, waste of a semester.

I think people should stop complaining about this class, because obviously astronomy/physics is a tough subject, and people should know what they're getting into before taking the class. Although he is a nice, funny little guy he is absent-minded. Very unclear teacher, jumps around from topic to topic, doesnt take attendance, never knows when the tests will be=not enough time for us to prepare, but he is funny & nice. If you can study alone, then take this class otherwise, DONT.

Very confusing... he's very scatter-brained... doesn't come to class prepared. Not a very clear person... If you really read all the study guides, and read the book, you should be ok though... can be easy if you're a good learner on your own.
