He's knowledgeable, it's true, but he is a grump and fairly arrogant about what he does at the school. His idea of rehearsing is generally to just run through pieces and then say "good" or "not great". Not very helpful, which is why the band sounds pretty icky. He's also buddies with the volunteers from the community and won't correct them at all.

This class is deceivingly difficult and un-interesting. It is mainly classical and old music. This class focuses on just three tests and a paper. They are all mainly just memorization and a few essays. Lloyd gives you all the information for the test, but pure memorization is difficult. His lectures are almost pointless with the studyguides.

Prof. Loyd is very strict, I think he tried to weed out the slackers with his first test because it does get easier as you go through the course. He is very helpful and does care about his students, i recommend him 100% but don't think this is an easy A class, I am a bio major and studied harder for his tests than any chem/phys class.

He is an incredible professor. He is a bit of a hardass, but in the best way possible. He expects a lot, but nothing ridiculous. He just knows you can do the best you can. He is a little intimidating, but he is a phenomenal teacher. He uses audio and visual props and is excellent at keeping you engaged. I didn't miss and/or skip this class once.

If you love music and it's your world, you'll love this professor. If you fit into any other category, avoid him at all costs. This is an unbelievably difficult 101 course. He makes it that way on purpose, and he takes pride in letting you know that not many students ever get an A.

Fantastic professor. If you are a music major, there is probably no better introduction to the subject than taking his class. He expects a fair amount from the students. In a quarter with calculus and chemistry, this 101 required the most effort for me. A lot of memorizing and essays.

This professor is fabulous! He is so incredibly knowledgeable about his subject, and he makes sure that you learn everything you need to know for the tests. As long as you take notes, you'll do fine. And remember to state, define and give examples in all of your written work. I had a great time in this class.

He is a good professor, he tells you exactly what is going to be on the test, just memorize/study what he tells you and you will do fine in his class. the only downside to this guy is how he grades your writing. On all the test i got nearly 100% on the fill in the blanks/matching, but when it comes to writing he will burn you down.

I'm a former music major and this class was ridiculous. I needed the class because none of my credits transfered, so I thought this class would not be too bad. Wrong. I passed everything on his tests with flying colors until I got to his written sections and papers. He'll nail you for word choice and semantical bs. Music connoisseurs beware.
