Navin was extremely helpful and professional. He doesn't given students all the answers they want but instead makes you find the correct answers. I think he was extremely sucessful and guiding myself and my classmates through a successful semester and competition.

Very nice man treats everyone like adults. Desk crits can be vague and you can be left with more questions then answers, but he points you in the right direction. Overall is a good guy and lets you design what you want.

His desk critics don't help , make you confused and work more and more till the day before presentation. Has favoritism for people who doesn't brainstorm, he love them just because they complete everything for the assigment. Nice person though, but it is not enough for this career. Not a hard grader neither fair.

Terrible prof. confusing and doesn't answer 1 question. Will send u 2 do research. Ur design will be always horrible until other crits approve it. He will never ok it though. Just keep working & have good representation. his crits are useless, his ideas are terrible and doesn't know landscape at all. both Santos are much more sensitive to landscape

I had him at Columbia, Intro to Landscape. I found his lectures to be well thought out, his reference materials were inspiring and he treated us like adults - if he disagreed with us he said so, if he thought we could improve on a thought he was helpful. I appreciate that he seemed to want us to do well in the field.

I had Tom for History of Garden Design at Columbia. I can not believe the comments. He is an AMAZING teacher. He does not use gimmicks to entertain his students. It is an intellectual discussion. He is brilliant and engaging and very open to others ideas. I found him extremely supportive.
