if you don't participate every single class, every single hour, every single minute, you aren't living up to his expectations of you. also he goes on weird tangents about bugs, dancing, ears, etc. weird class, weird professor.

Tom Sherman is one of the most interesting artists you'll ever meet. He's the master of Video Art (practically one of it's founding fathers). So he knows exactly what he's talking about in Video Art. Whoever, I simply couldn't wrap my head around it all. The class seems easy enough (discussions of videos), but presentation style must be excellent.

I've done over three classes with Tom. He's really interested in what young people have to say and has a unique and easy to follow lecturing and critique style. Even the most cellphone-addicted of students wouldn't be looking at their devices. Tom is an incredible mentor and will offer insight into where your work may fit in the art world.

Tom Sherman as stated below seems to get a kick out of belittling his students. He is a great source of knowledge in the art video world, however he does not convey this in a crystal clear way.

Tom was very supportive to those who showed enthusiasm. I don't understand the negative reviews. My problem was more with the discipline which I found to be flighty and confused.

Tom Sherman was a terrible teacher who thought that it was neccessary to belittle his students. He did bring in some interesting guest lecturers, but Tom would ruin the experience by asking questions about the most random things.

ok, sherman is in no way hot. ew. ok, but he taught me in vidsonics, which made no sense. this guy knows his stuff but sometimes he needs to dumb things down and isn't very successful. fun class at times, but can be really boring too.
