Organic chemistry is without a doubt a very tough class, but Tom Waddell was one of the best organic professors out there. Sadly, he just retired.

Comment:

Very muddled headed. Hardly gives you any lab instruction. Just gives you hand outs. He has 2 tests and they are completely random q's. He is a STICKLER for prompt attendtence. Five minutes late means you cannot participate in the lab (means a 0) or if you're lucky he only takes off 1-2 pts from your 10 pt lab report.

Great professor until you ask him a question he thinks is stupid. Lab partner was absent so I had to ask Dr. Waddell a question, he laughed in my face then walked off without helping. I loved him up until that point.

Biochemistry is not an easy subject, but Dr. Waddell presents the subject material in a straighforward manner. Excellent teacher and very highly recommended. He wants to get to know all his students as well. Too bad he is retiring after the spring.

Comment:

Very good professor; always willing to help and truly wants to get to know his students. I wish he wasn't retiring after the spring semester. Organic chemistry is a tough subject to begin with and while he is clear and presents the material so it is understandable, he is by no means easy. I just barely pulled a C in his class.

Come on... Waddell is great! He does expect the best from his students but thats good. His tests are fair. His lectures are clear and he is more than willing to help you. He does try get to know some of his students which is good. I would recommend taking him before he leaves! He is an awesome person.

Dr. Waddell is an excellent teacher!!! This is not an 'easy A' course, but Waddell teaches it so that even the most difficult things are understandtable. He wants to get to know his students and genuinely cares how his students do on tests as well. If you can take him for any class TAKE HIM! Dr. Waddell is one of the few best UTC has!!

This guy is great. I am not sure that i have had a better professor. He actually seemed to care about students and their performance. This class isn't an easy A or a give me grade, but if you want to succeed he will give you the tools to do so.

Well, Biochemisty as you all know is not an easy class. But open book test on exams ( you need to know how to utilize the book) help alot! just go to class. Make sure you know how to use the mechanisms given in class. and getting an old test really helps. This class isn't as bad as i thought it would be. I thought it was easier than Organic!

Dr. Waddell demands excellence from his students. I personally did not like the way he assumes that you know what he's talking about every second. Biochem is a very difficult class. Be sure to get a hold of any old exams; sometimes they help, sometimes they don't at all. Just double check your intelligence level before taking Chem 466.

There is nothing easy about Organic Chemistry, but Dr.Waddell does an excellent job of teaching and presenting the material well that anyone can understand it. Dr. Waddell is by far the BEST to take any chemistry classes from at UTC because he really cares about how his students are doing. Overall, A+ professor and the gold standard for teaching!!!

I've had double majors & double minors, went to three different Universities. Dr. Waddell is probably the overall best Professor I've ever had in any subject. I was not his best student, but If You really want to understand Organic or Biochemistry You should transfer from wherever You are and take all Tommy Waddell's classses. (ps there is nothing easy about this class or material but this prof. will make it clear to You.)

Very solid teacher. Very helpful and extremely intelligent. You can just tell he KNOWS what hes talkin about and he doesnt talk to his students like they are 5th graders like some Science teachers tend to do. He talks to you like an adult and is easy to understand. I would reccomend taking him to ANYONE.

Absolutely great teacher. Knew my name within the first week. Very clear during class and tests were straight from the notes. Very approachable and you can tell that he wants you to do well. Would definetly recommend.

Dr. Waddell is the best. He really takes time to get to know you. The class is challenging, but not confusing. He even offered to write my reccommedation for nursing school, which I was accepted to. He still remembers me and talks to me whenever I see him on campus. Great professor!
