Dr. Wall is a very smart guy and cares a lot about his classes. He's a tough grader and has some pop quizzes and can come off as standoffish but overall he's a nice guy and is there to help you but doesn't put up with students not coming to class or not paying attention.

Despite not liking the subject of philosophy at all, Dr. Wall was a great teacher. He was very clear with his lessons and is very knowledgeable on the topics he teaches. Do the readings and participate!!! He expects a lot, so study for the tests a lot. The final paper is pretty open-ended and it's not graded too difficultly. Occasional funny lines!

Dr. Wall is an absolutely brilliant professor and he inspires his students to do their best work. I have absolutely loved every class I have taken with him. He holds his students to a high standard and it's great and he is willing to work with anyone who puts the effort in. Also just an absolutely great guy.

Professor Wall is extremely intelligent and has so much information to share. If you do your reading and come to class to participate, you will do well! He wrote the book that we used and it was very clearly written, but he always explains the more complex topics in class until everyone understands.

This isn't your average Emmanuel class where you can coast, it will take some work. Wall is a brilliant man that challenges his students to be brilliant as well. The subject is complex but if you ask Wall for help he will work with you. So long as you contribute to class discussions, he'll know you're trying and take the papers seriously.

He expects students to really work hard, which is a good thing. A lot of the times, his lectures sounded like a different language if you didn't put maximum effort into understanding the material beforehand. Readings were difficult and very abstract. Forcing someone to do this might be a form of torture.

Took the Hybrid 1115 Class, Recent Moral Issues, half online half on person so only met in person once a week. I absolutely hated him. He is so unclear about everything and doesn't care about individual people. He's so arrogant bc he's head of the dept and has tenure, should NOT be teaching an intro class for gen req, struggled hard through.

Although Dr. Wall is passionate about the topics discussed in class, I felt he wasn't clear about what he wanted for papers and expected more than he asked for. It was difficult to hand in papers on topics we hadn't yet discussed and I didn't like his class discussion methods, as the majority of the class seemed confused. Should have dropped it.

His exams are pretty hard, you have to be incredibly thorough to get full points, but it's fun to have a class that's challenging. You HAVE to read the assigned reading, or at least try to. He explains everything super clearly in class and teaches it all really well. Plus he has a fantastic dry sense of humor that cracks me up

If you're actually interested in phil. he is a great professor, and very helpful as long as you ASK for help. he's funny, especially because of his dorchester-ian accent. if you don't like philosophy and will not invest time into readings, i do not suggest his classes because reading/participation is pretty much required (or you'll feel guilty)

KNows his philosophy but is horrible at explaining it. Its hard to understand his circles of "reality" and diagrams on the board. Pretty lenient on his papers but there are a lot of them.
