Do not take this course if you have no background in music. Background IS required to do well in this class, especially a little in Piano. If you have some background, you will probably do fine and thoroughly enjoy yourself, but going in without any sort of instrumental knowledge is asking for a semester of hell. Overall a smart and nice Professor.

Gotta say, his lessons were useful but he never noticed when I didn't practice. And I'm sorry, but that little bubble of spit that forms right on the middle of his bottom lip when he's talking is REALLY DISTRACTING. He tries hard, cares a lot, but doesn't really connect with his students.

Drove me to hate the violin. Cares little about his students, and only about his work. Shows little interest in actually helping or explaining how to practice the pieces given to you. Good work ethic; could care less about his students' well-being. If you're serious about violin or viola, look elsewhere.

Took intro to music with him....Unless you've been in band your whole life, don't go there. There's nothing "INTRO" about this class...Hey loves music...but unless you had an understanding of music (and when i say understand i mean 6 or 7 years of instrumental music...) he can't teach you.

He was really nice and spent more time on my lessons than he had to frequently. He was very supportive of me even with stuff going on outside of lessons. You could tell he really cared about his students. The only problem I had was that the piece he gave me was far too easy.

Biased towards strings, obviously since he is a string player. Seems ignorant to some basic facts about instruments and music but it's obvious that he actually does care about the students. Very flexible with makeup work but needs help making sure he knows everything he should for the class.

Seems like he cares- and infact does- he really tries to help us get the best out learning how to learn- as far as class goes, i just dont understand why he's teaching. I seems like he knows what he whats and understands himself really well, but wont let anyone else speak- he cuts us off

Dr. Wood is willing to help you- if you'll take the time to ask him out of class. He's got a lot of interesting things to share with students. He is getting less anal retentive as time goes by. That is a GOOD thing.

Absolutely horrible. He is anal-retentive and out to fail EVERYONE. Needs everything done his way (not necessarily the correct way). He really needs to lighten up (that's not EVER going to happen).
