Dr. Compton is one of the nicest, and most genuine professors you will find. He is eager to help students with difficulties they may have in his class, and assigns interesting coursework. As this is a university-level class, he does not assign too much work but if you are lazy, you will undoubtedly complain about the workload. I loved this class.

I honestly suggest you do NOT take him and take another english course. Class is not hard, but there is TOO MUCH work for a 200 level course. The grading scale is also ridiculous, where an A is a 94 or above. You also have to attend class 50% of the time in Benson Theatre, which is a hassle since it is on the southside of campus (next to Bates).

The class itself got SO old because he just talks and talks but it ended up being pretty easy. I got a 98 on the first exam and A's on practically all the papers. Just be prepared to listen to a lot of BSing

I BSed on papers and made a B+, or A. Super easy class. He's very fair on grading. He'll read the classes paper, see how everyone is doing before he determines what your grade is. He gives study guides, and notes of the lectures. You don't have to buy the book, as long as you can get access to the readings. He's very nice and helpful!
