Comment:
Dr. Thewes is rude and isn't helpful. Ive been to her office multiple times and she still has yet to explain any concept to me clearly. Doesn't seem too concerned about her students. Tests are too long to finish in the 50 minutes she gives you. DO NOT recommend to anyone who doesn't have a core understanding of chemistry.

Dr. Thewes is very intimidating at first, but you will find she is very helpful. Labs are graded very tough so make sure you complete everything and know your sig figs! Lab counts as 20% of your overall grade so make sure to do your best. Every little bit helps. Don't even try to copy from anyone else because she WILL catch you. Need lab book!

She's extremely intimidating at first but she's not too bad.. Very strict on lab but she does it for your own good.. Labs are easy and fast. And she always gives you a good explanation of what you're doing that day in lab beforehand.

She's tough but she really understands her stuff. If you go to class, participate, and do your best on every assignment then you'll be fine. Make sure you always do your work though, she quickly notices who's going to try and who won't and she's way more eager to help you out if you're actually putting effort into her class.

Dr. Thewes is a great teacher and if you listen and take notes, STUDY FOR THE TESTS and do the labs well, you'll pass. Not an easy class, but you're in college, its not supposed to be easy. Remember to do prelab, Study your notes for the test, and go to her office hour for questions. she's kinda scary at first but rally nice if you need help. :)

Its been a while since I took chem in highschool, which made this class hard for me. Dr. Thewes is a great teacher, her tests are difficult, but the course is able to be passed if you work.

assumes everyone is just reviewing from hs but if thats not the case-go to tutor. shes great if you go to office hours, tests are crazy hard, like 10 problems but 5 step ones so if you mess up on part-the whole thing is wrong which sucks. shes nice...i withdrew from her class but plan to retake it with her-shes great, you really need to work tho

I never understood chem in high school but this teacher made it all crystal clear to me. She relates chemistry to everyday life and gives helpful visuals. She follows a course schedule she'll give you on your first day. You'll know all your expectations, and she is helpful during office hours. Best chem teacher ever!

Prin Chem. You pick how you are graded, the rules, etc. Not enough structure for a college level course. Feels like I'm back in high school. That sucks when you aren't an 18 year old incoming freshman. Doesn't seem as understanding of the needs of an adult student.

Dr. Thewes' class is sometimes difficult. Especially testing, you can grasp the material from the book and homework, but putting it together on a test can be challenging. She is always available to answer questions and explain. Take advantage of that. One on one is much better than lecture. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

She's nice, but the class is very difficult. She gives you study guides for the exams, however, not everything on it is on the test. Be specific when taking the test. Questions on the tests are not the same as the examples she gives. GO TO TUTOR FOR HELP ON LAB!!!!!

The class can get confusing at times, however, she is willing to go over things that you don't understand during her office hours. I went to her office for help on several occasions and she was always very helpful. If I failed to grasp a concept, she would go over it again until I understood. Make sure to do the hw.

This woman helped me understand chemistry, believe me that says alot! She does not have an approachable personality but she really is very nice. She is tough and expects you to understand but she is also willing to help you if you don't. Advice to all who are struggling, GO TO HER OFFICE!

The class was easy but it's a good thing. She says stop by office hours for help then yells at you for coming. The tests are fairly easy as well. Make sure you know the basics and theories, she likes to throw the little things on the tests. I got an A but I would never take her for a class that needs to be taught by a good, caring Professor

For non-majors course, Dr. Thewes expects students to take course seriously and give her college level work. Plenty of homework to turn in. No tests or quizzes, but 2 projects involve serious work. She has "hands-off" style of teaching, wants you to research everything on your own. Take this course seriously and you can crush it, if not stay away.

she goes over everything in the book, and doesn't try to trick you on the test, just do some practice questions in the chapters. test usually only 1 math equation the extended our test time from 50 mins to 1 hr. very nice and understanding.

She is not understanding what-so-ever. I'm OSD, and get extended time on tests...she thinks her tests should get priority over all my other classes demanding that I take them at a specific time! Her tests are pretty much impossible. Even if you think you understand it, or make a calculation error, she takes off considerable points.

She's a pretty nice person. But she expects you to know everything , and she moves to fast. I guess thats ok since theres no test. But I was like always lost!! She doesn't break things down in detail enough. We always had to work with a group which got kinda annoying. And that long project had to go!!Took Way too much time for me. Don't take her!!

Worst choice for a teacher, I pretty much agree with all the negative comments on this prof so far, just rediculous in her ideas and expectations
