Comment:
His lectures are nearly useless due to his constant tangents. His tests bring in information never covered in lectures or slides, and only a blurb in his book. He wrote the textbook, it is almost as useless as his lectures. Don't take his class unless your weird like him.

His exams seem to bring new material and subject matter that, as someone who reads everything and does all practice questions, found to be offensive. I have spent twice the suggested time per course credit on this class, and I am doing poorly. If he really wanted you to get a good grade, his exams would be about the material we have discussed.

Comment:
Do not ever take this professor. Especially If you take the online Finance class. He has quirky expectations and is misguiding when it comes to due dates. If you are having technical problems with the online course, he responds very poorly through email and only ever refers to days of the week. He will not write the actual date he is talking about.

This class is very difficult for an intro level class. It is lecture heavy so attending class is important. If you are not interested in finance it is extremely difficult to engage in lectures because they are so dry. Take this class with another professor.

Tim's lectures were boring and the class was difficult to understand. He grades his class using a weird curve system because his exams are insanely difficult. He's a nice guy but made this class unnecessarily difficult for an intro finance class.

You definitely have to be interested in finance to like this class or professor. He is very nice and good at lecturing, but his material is boring to non-finance majors. If you come to class and listen, you will learn quite a bit of useful information. He curves tests to help everyone out! He wants you to get a good grade.

don't take him if you are interested in finance - he may have wrote the text book and be super knowledgable but he made me hate finance because of how boring his lectures were. Tests are very conceptual even though his practice problems are mostly problems/numbers based. Frustrating teacher. Not helpful at office hours

He is an awful professor, I am surprised the College of Business even hired him to be a professor. He needs to retire. The style of teaching is absolutely ridiculous.

Comment:
He assumes that everyone already has a clear understanding of finance which makes the class very hard. His tests are different for everyone, his layout and format is different which makes it hard to learn from one to the next. He tells random stories that are not relevant in class. After the final I still feel like I know nothing about finance.

Difficult professor. Teaches the class assuming every student is a finance expert. Lectures are hard to follow. Exams are tough. If finance is your thing this class shouldn't be that hard, but if you struggle in this subject take it with a different professor.

Good class, clear but sometimes boring lectures. He really cares about finance which makes the class more tolerable. He wrote the book so that helps to follow along. He forces a curve which helps grades a lot. Online quizzes are a grade boost, reading + homework + show up and you will easily get an A or B

I started grad school this week at DU. My 1st class this semester is Financial Accounting. I learned more yesterday in 2 hrs than Gallagher's whole semester class. The problem is he assumes you understand the language of Finance. For those that are Finance majors, this class is easy. For the rest of us, good luck. My advice, take anyone else.

Class is pretty easy. Test are hard, but he curves depending on the second highest grade on the test. I never go to class and cram before the tests and am averaging a B+. Only 3 tests, no cumulative. For every topic we cover, he has a real world example that helps to understand the material. Definitely recommend. Not for the poor testtaker.

Worst professor and class structure you could ever imagine. Test are rediculous even if you study for a week. He rewarded the brown nosers that went to the optional review with test question that pertained to the meetings, and absolutley nothing is accomplished in class, expect re-reading the paper. Oh did I mention he wrote the book.

Let me first say, "Gallagher Rocks!" Seriously, I made a t-shirt and wore it to the last day of class that said so. He is very helpful, demands that you go to class, but sets up the course so that you CAN do well with a lot of on-line assignments that are very easy and all the points add up. If you are a slacker, you will do poorly in this class

Tests are ridiculously hard. Test questions have more to do with huge 2 point HW assignments and voluntary study sessions than with lecture material and notes. He has a funny laugh and some good stories but I feel he is a bit unrealistic in what he tests on.
