Hanusa is pretty good professor, took him in the fall and he was helpful. The only problem is that class is at 8AM and not required, so many times I didn't end up going. But honestly, the tests are all the same regardless of which prof you have, so don't stress too much over who you get, worry more about getting someone later in the day.

Really good professor, probably the best of the intro chemistry professors. However, they use unified tests and exams so there isn't a lot of difference.

Hanusa is pretty awesome. Like any chemistry professor, he is pretty quirky, but fun to listen to, even though I had him at 8 in the morning. Doesn't do the best job of preparing students for the test (he saves a ton of trick questions for the tests). Do your best on clickers, & remember clicker questions for the tests. Class supplements help.

Comment:
Dr. Hanusa tries very hard to make Chemistry fun for all of his students. However, it's hard to do this at 8 AM. If you have taken more than a year of chemistry in high school, you'll sleep during lectures, but if you haven't, you may feel a bit overwhelmed because of his speed. All tests are standardized. Pick whichever teacher fits your schedule.

Hanusa did his best at trying to cover the material of a very difficult subject. He went way too quickly through his lectures, but was always very helpful in his office hours. He seemed like the most personable Gen Chem professor. Nonetheless, the tests are going to be difficult no matter which professor you take.

Hanusa does his best for an 8am class. His lectures are dry, but occasionally he'll try to make a joke to liven things up. Still, he moves quickly which can make class hard to follow if you didn't take AP chem. Not super accessible or affable outside of class; seemed like a guy that felt like he had better things to do. Still, better than List.

Dr. Hanusa is a great chemistry professor - he is so passionate about his teaching and is a great lecturer. The chemistry concepts are really difficult and he sometimes speeds through them, but he is very approachable in his office hours. My favorite professor this semester.

Hanusa is an all right person, but he expects you to grasp extremely difficult concepts as though they are common sense, which is just not going to happen for the average student. Difficult to stay awake during his class, recommend taking someone else if at all possible.

Good professor. His lecture are interesting and he brings in a lot of extra material (not relevant to tests or textbook). He makes chemistry interesting to learn - however, you are graded 100% based on a department test so this makes it slightly more difficult. Great professor if you want to learn something useful with chemistry

Great professor. Going to lecture is not necessary because posts the lecture powerpoints on OAK. But with Chem 102 in general, if you didn't take AP Chemistry, the textbook is the real professor. If you have taken AP Chem, skim through the book and go over stuff not covered in AP.

A really great guy. He wants everyone to like chemistry, even though no one takes it unless they have to. He tries to make a few jokes and the powerpoints are a really handy tool to have. From hearing friends' comments about other profs, probably the best choice for 102A

Really nice guy and you can tell he really cares about what he's teaching (sometimes a little too much because he tends to ramble). Honestly, you don't really need to go to gen chem lecture, especially with Hanusa, because he basically just reads from his very comprehensive ppts in class. Very boring at 8:10 am but does his best.

Hanusa was hard to follow in lectures sometimes. I had him for first semester chemistry, and struggled to pull off a C+. I switched to another professor for second semester and felt much better (Phillips). He definitely doesn't work enough problems in class to help you out for the exams.

I love Professor Hanusa! He truly cares about his students' successes and is the only professor to hold review sessions and post review sheets for exams. He is the best professor for CHEM 102 and offers the best preparation for the standardized exams.

Hanusa is very interested, and therefore knowledgeable about chem. He really wants everyone to understand. but it's CHEM! you can't blame the man for maybe being boring, the subject matter is also! the tests are departmentalized, the quizzes are taken elsewhere. you really don't have to attend class. read the book, do practice problems will suffice

Hanusa definitely tries his best to explain everything so that anyone can understand. If you have trouble waking up in the morning or have had AP chem, you might do well to try another professor. If this is one of your first experiences with chem, I think hes probably your best choice.
