You get your money's worth with this one, but, not in that overbearing strict ruler type of way. Class is inclusive of many teaching methods with leeway for some absenteeism. Expectations are clear from the beginning, help and assistance always readily available. Great class!

Dr. Johnston is a good professor. He tells you what you need to know and he expects you to know it. Go to class. Attendance is technically not mandatory but you should go to class. He'll tell you what you need to study. Study and know the material and you will be fine. Lab is easy and fun. Overall it is a decent class.

Micro was an extremely boring class especially the lab. I made an 89.3 and got an A when I was expecting a B. Johnston is the typical professor. He thinks if you fail it is your own fault but does have a reasonable curve. Not too bad of an experience. Pretty decent professor

Very confusing. Every class is straight lecture, he'll ramble on for the entire hour about nothing that is related to the course, doesn't tell you what to expect on the exams whatsoever. The one good thing he did to though, was give lots of extra credit for showing up to class.

This professor is crazy hard. I literally got a D or F on all of his tests. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. His slideshows are 100 slides each and the tests are over 4 or 5 chapters at a time with no additional grade cushioning.

Dr. Johnston is a really nice guy and super friendly. He's always in a good mood. Make sure to go to class and take notes because about half of his powerpoints are from the old book, so you can't just read the book for extra clarity. Write down the random facts he says in class because they will be on the test!!

Make sure you are one of his favorites, he'll give you extra points for going to see him in his office. Not exactly fair, but true. If you don't, he will think that you don't care and will not help you with a few points when final grades come around.

There is a lot of information and sometimes it's not too clear what will be asked on the tests. They are mostly short answer questions. In my experience, partial credit wasn't an option on test questions. He's a nice guy, but a very strict grader. Know the subject backwards and forwards in order to do well. Lab is easy and interesting.

Dr. Johnston is a wonderful professor. He is 100% fair in all aspects of the class. As long as you attend class, pay decent attention and take notes, you will be fine. The material is not difficult, there is just a lot of it. There is no excuse for doing poorly in his class. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and is overall excellent.

Dr. Johnston is a great teacher in my opinion. If you come to class and take notes, and study them, the class is pretty easy. However, his final is WAY harder than his regular exams. I made 3 A's and 1 B on the semester exams but on the final I studied for 3 days and still made a C. Recommended if you will actually study!!

He's a great guy. He makes sure you learn your stuff without realizing it. This class was most easily my most fun class ever, not because there was no work involved, but because he made it fun. The work involved was a bit but it was TOTALLY worth it!

He is a really nice guy but he goes over information really fast and in the form of a review. He uses powerpoints to teach with. His online quizzes are really hard. I used my notes and the book and still got C's however his tests were semi hard. I got A's on them.

Very hard class. Test are very detailed and he doesn't give extra credit. Lectures consist of slides with pictures and he rambles about them. He's a really nice guy, but the tests are too complex compared to his lectures.

He teaches like you're reviewing, and only skims the general concepts; HAVE to study the material and know it really well. His test are amazingly hard-in addition to being multiple choice. The average test score was normally in the 60% range and only four people got A's in a class of like 80. He seems friendly and will help, but only if you ask.

Dr. Johnston is a nice guy but this class comes across as a level 3 or 4 hundred. Dr. Johnston goes over the material way too fast and teaches as if the class is reviewing instead of learning. The average test scores for the class were 62% to 67%. I would think this would be a big clue for the professor that the class is not understanding.
