Palmer is the man, guys funny, and makes an interesting class. If you aren't interested in history he'll make you interested. The classes are easy, so what you put into it is what you'll get out of it.

Very good teacher. I was not interested in history until I took this class. He actually shows that he is a human with personality instead of being a lecture machine. I love his stories about life and listening to his experiences. If you do what you need to do he will respect you. I personally think this professor is fantastic, best I've had!

Surprisingly fun lectures, his engaging classroom presence is what I'll remember most about him. You really feel like you're learning some new things when you listen to him. His grades on papers are rather unclear, as he leaves essentially no comments, but he's an easy grader so that's not so bad. He's a big fan of J.Q.Adams, expect a bunch of him.

By far Mr. Palmer is one of the best teachers that I have ever had! He really makes the student think outside of the box and apply different methods of logic to history and present events. One thing about Mr. Palmer that keeps a student awake in class, is his very outgoing personality! You'll never want to miss class!

I have NO respect for this man. Despite the fact he knows his material very well, I can't stand his teaching(or lack thereof.) Now granted, open book tests & questions given ahead of time are great. HOWEVER, despite his claiming "I'm going to teach you how to think," classes consist of his opinionated ranting or the same repeated lectures all week.

He is awesome. he has a very straight forward attitude. You will know the first day of class his opinion on everything. I don't agree with many of his opinions however, he encourages you to find your own and to challenge him and the world around you. His notes and explanations are awesome! he's a great teacher and funny too!

I currently have him as a professor and love it. I usually hate history but he makes it entertaining. He is a very friendly person and really knows what he is talking about. The essays are extremely hard but you have plenty of time to work out them and can bring in notes. He lets you out early, but he goes through things a little to fast some times

Horrible teacher for History majors, never makes any sense at all always is very unclear. He never teaches to what he has assigned you and his essay questions are retarded. If you hate history you will enjoy him, his jokes are great not professional at all. I hated him.

He is an amazing teacher, he tells you exactly what you need to know for the test and its open book, it would be hard to fail his class. He is funny and does not keep the class longer then it needs to be. Is very clear on what he expects and can relate to students, i've taken already been in 2 of his classes and would take more if he had them.

Would rather teach his Marxist views than the curriculum. A bad choice for History majors. He wants his students to use a marx or machiavelli paradigm for the essays. Expected his students to do the reading for their health, rarely used text, never discussed reading

All of his tests are in essay form but you either get the question ahead of time or he gives you all the information you need. He was a bit confusing at first, but you need to get used to his style of teaching. He taught me a lot though!

Palmer is a great teacher. I never could understand history until told by his unique style. Whoever says he's a tough grader clearly cannot write! If you write with some kind of thought process you'll do fine, especially because he gives us the question before hand!

If you hate history, but have to take a history class, he is your man. He makes a lot of his examples funny so you understand them better. Tests are open book/note and are just essays which he gives you in advance. Pay attention and take good notes during class. This man is hilarious, and has been one of my favorite professors so far.

Hands down best teacher I have ever had. Lessons are extremely entertaining, make you think outside the box, and question what you know. Teaches like George Carlin with a history degree. Rarely keeps you the entire class and allows you to bring notes and textbooks to tests.

Well.. lets just say that there is never a dull moment in class. He is very exciting and makes class entertaining. Basically all you have to do is write four essays for his class and listen to him ramble about history and critical thinking. He does not teach out of the text book and basically wants to make you think. Awesome teacher!

If you arent a history major or do not like history this would be the guy to have teach your history requirements. All of the tests are open note and open book essays. You can go as far as writing your entire essay before class because he gives you the essya questions at least 2 weeks ahead of time. Also he never keeps you the whole time.

Palmer is a really good teacher and not that hard. He makes you think but actually teaches you things unlike other teachers. The tests are all essays but he usually helps you a lot and gives you the questions before the test.
