To be honest, this guy is boring as hell. Most of the time I go into class and mess around in my computer and get an easy A. He gives online quizzes and me and a buddy of mine do them together and get a hundred each time. The Midterm is 2 essays and multiple choice so you can do good on that, don't know about the final. Super easy class

Easy class, Renner goes on random lectures but you can watch the latest NFL or NBA highlight and still get a solid B in the class. 2 essays, a midterm and final. Gives quizzes online on the latest readings but they're really easy and you can work with other kids in the class to get an A. These quizzes will really boost you're grade so do them!

Great professor, even though his lectures are boring and sometimes confusing, hes always there to answer any questions you may have. Hes an easy grader, will most likely give you an A on an assignment even if you didnt answer the questions right, overall an easy A

Easily the most boring class I took all semester. I rarely went to class and managed to get by with a B. Really difficult to understand what he is talking about, but there isn't homework besides readings. 2 formal papers and 3 quizzes plus midterm and final is all there is.

Avoid him at all cost, his lectures are unclear and midterms and exams are merely difficult. If ur looking for a gen ed history requirement, avoid this class. Take another history class. There are a lot of great teachers out there other than Renner.

Even though I earned a B+ This class was sooo boring that I rarely attended class, sorry to say. The textbooks for his class were at the library so that was easy. A large amount of reading due each week which weren't bad bc that only helped for the exs. The class wasn't extremely difficult but you can't be lazy either.

Worst professor ever. Not only is his class boring, but it is also confusing. You never understand exactly what the assignments are and there is no personal value of the overall course. Avoid taking him at all costs.

Failed this class. I tried soo hard in that class but he makes the whole class hard. His lectures and slides are impossible to understand and he expects everyone to know everything in his lectures from midterms and finals. Do not take him. Seriously!!!

He's a cool professor for many reasons. He's always in a good mood to present the material, good grader, he didn't overload us with work as most professors do, and he didn't take attendance. As most people have said, his lectures do tend to get boring at times, but I guess it's just because he's more passionate about that type of stuff than us.

If ur looking to take an American/ European history course. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! His lectures are not only boring, but he makes it hard to understand as he barely puts information on slides thinking that that all of us learn at the same rate. I learned nothing from this class and he is very unhelpful. I really regret taking him in the first place!

This class is easy but pretty BORING. Homework assignments are due every class (even for classes that are twice a week, ugh). The texts are necessary because everything is based off of them. 2 short papers, 1 midterm and 1 final. For the final you can use one page of written notes. Drops 4 lowest homework grades. Also, does not take attendance.

The class is pretty easy. Every class you either have a quiz or graded hw due but he drops the lowest 5. He gives out study guides for his tests that are very helpful. He even sends you emails explaining what the hw or quiz is for next class in case you were absent. Take him!

Professor Renner is a nice guy. If you like Roman Civ, you'll like this class. If you do the homework assignments, you should be fine. Even if you slack, you can still pull off a good grade. Attendance wasn't mandatory. People usually only showed up when there was a test.

He is a nice guy but he is extremely boring. The lectures seem to drag on, he will give you a study guide that tells you whats on the midterm and final but even then he wants in-depth essays ( 2-3) in addition to fill-in questions and doesnt give enough time. Homework is collected every class as attendance. 2 papers, no personality.

Overall, this was not a terrible class. He is fairly boring, but I've yet to meet a professor who can make Latin fun. He doesn't take attendance, but there is a quiz each day. He drops the lowest 5, so if you do well on them, you can miss 5 classes no problem. As mentioned, he is a very fair grader, and so long as you study a bit, an A is EASY.

I had him in Spring 2008. He is really nice and knows a lot about the subject, with that said he was all over the place when it came to the lectures. Do the homework to keep your grade up. The midterm and final were difficult so study for them. I somehow walked away with an A-. This really turned me off to Roman history.

professor renner is an okay guy. he's extremely nice but also pretty boring. but then again, it's roman civ. and most people just take it as an elective to fill a requirement. he's a really fair grader though. attendance isnt mandatory but theres homework every night and he collects it...just keep up with the readings and you'll be ok

I loved Prof Renner. He tried to engage the class in the lectures. He was an incredibly fair grader, and even let you take your exams home to fix them and return them for a better grade. Latin isn't the most exciting subject, but he made it tolerable. I dropped my Latin II prof this semester in hopes of getting Renner for Latin again. Take him!
