Dr. Halihan has been one of my favorite professors at OSU. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but doesn't let it get to his head. I felt like the class is less about learning about env. geology and more about learning how to model, so DO THE HW! you could do really bad on both tests and still get an A if you get an A on all the homework!

Hilarious professor, gives good advice and genuinely wants students to succeed. The excel homework takes a while to adjust to, but it is very useful in the real world once you get the hang of it. Had no idea what was going to be on the test, they weren't terribly difficult. He assumes you have a basic knowledge of geology, other majors struggled

This professor is one in a million, however, tread lightly. He makes some of the funniest/crude/unbelievable/smartest comments ever. You may fall out of your chair after hearing him say something like "...and I like to kill little Billy." But that soon passes as he brings this up quite often. Get used to his remarks because they never stop. #LOL

Funny, sarcastic humor, learned a lot. Don't miss the field trips. The water cycle image is on every Hydrogeoloy I exam so memorize it. Learn how to convert among units and watch your decimal places. PDFs have the exam info you need, the book doesn't help much. Learn water budgets Almost impossible to get office time with him...way too busy.

He's arrogant and ridicules the students' answers on exams and homework. He doesn't teach, instead he expects you to do the homework without much direction and ask questions later if you don't understand it. He has a six figure side business and a house in the Bahamas that he will mention eventually.

Fun lectures, fair grading, easy to remember info due to lecture style, prof is eye candy! Respectful to students directly, but mocked everyone who isn't sciency. You must be able to trust a prof not to mock you if you speak up in class, and even though he didn't tease students, his teasing everyone else made me (and others) reluctant to speak up.

Cool class. Attendance is not mandatory, but there's no textbook. I think the 1st assignment is meant to get people to drop, but after that it's fine. TA grades everything. Macabre sense of humor, possibly offensive but if he goes too far you can talk to him and he'll tone it down. DO THE HOMEWORK! Exams are a fairly small part of your grade.
