As you can see from previous comments only three or four are positive and all are before 05. It seems that he's only gotten worse as the years go by. My biggest problems were that he would never let us know what chapter he was teaching at any time and he would go off on random tangents. I took Waggoner the next semester and received a B+. Take her!

terrible calculus teacher. he assumes you know the material even when the class average on a test is below 50. if it's the only class time available which fits your schedule, leave it out and find another teacher next semester

I hated having him! He was too caught up in his own brilliance to simplify concepts for our little minds! I am a math major and have never had this much trouble understanding concepts. DON'T TAKE HIM!

horrible teacher, cant teach because he is too brilliant to explain it in simpleton terms. you must have outside help to pass his class. very egocentric explains things in a geographic way not numerically. his exams are integrated or not even in the hwk he assigns. quizzes he grades lightly but not on exams no partial credit

This teacher is very vague! He knows his material very well, but conveys it at a high level that is hard to understand. You should only take him if you have to, or want to be challenged. Very understanding though, and does care about your grade. I came into his class with an F, but left with a B. He will help as long as you show you are trying.

Dr. Colvin is a great teacher, but it seems that some people have a hard time following along with his class. However, I am sure it is their issue and not something of his doing. This is college people, you have to actually put some work into your classes to get something out of it.

Do not take him for calculus if you really want to be taught calculus. He's completely unclear and goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with the class. He's also super hard to get a hold of outside of class. Save yourself the trouble and take somebody else.
