He gives you the option to use the textbook, but he says it's not worth it. His quizzes and tests are straight from the power points. Your final is a second midterm, which means it only covers things from after the midterm. If you can pay attention and take notes you will do just fine in the class.

Comment:

Dude is a legit "rock head" - he lives and breathes geology. Online class is easy enough if you read all the notes & articles and pay attention to the key points of the videos. Topics are current and follow the curriculum to a T. You dont need to be a "rock head" to pass this class, just someone curious about how the Earth works

First of all, I think we can all agree that Luther is super hot. HAHA anyway...I only had him for lab but he was super easy. He explains what to do for a couple minutes, brief and to the point. Then he lets you work on the lab for the rest of class either alone or with a partner and you can leave once you finish. Would definitely recommend!!

I took Geologic Disasters online (both lecture and lab). Professor Luther was on top of things when videos were down or if labs were not working right. He is strict about deadlines, but it's college and it's good practice for the real world. Loved the class and the teacher. Highly recommend this course to anyone. Totally fascinating!

I only took the lab (I took the lecture a few years back at a different college). I told Todd this and he was more than willing to help me with any questions that I had. If there was a problem I didn't understand he would happily walk me through it. Very approachable and very laid back. Don't miss class or it will drop you down a letter grade!

This class isn't necessarily "hard" but it wasn't for me. There isn't a textbook, so I felt like I couldn't "take in" the information. You'll end up taking quizzes just to test and pass. The lab is genuinely a joke and you probably won't learn much at all. I took this prof. class because of the reviews but he's definitely average at BEST.

Had him for geology lab, very good instructor. He explains things very clearly, but if you're having trouble, he will go over problems with you and walk you through it. Don't be shy! If you miss a lab you will have to make it up. There are quizzes every week over past material/identifying rocks. If you study a bit, it shouldn't be a problem.

I love Todd! He's my favorite teacher this semester! He always helps in labs, and will walk around and make sure everyone understands. There is a test every class, but the labs help balance out the grade. You WILL have to make up a lab if you ever miss class because it will drop you a letter grade. This teacher is awesome though, I really like him!

Todd Luther is awesome! He is a great teacher and explains things well, but his voice honestly makes me want to fall asleep. Don't make him your first class of the day! He doesn't give out homework too often, but he does give out random quizzes that you can't make up if you're absent.

Interested in what he teaches and tries to make it interesting for you as well. You have to go to class. He doesn't take attendance but he has "surprise assignments" that you only know about if you show up. Homework is due by chapter and has to be turned in on time.
