Awesome professor! He really knows his stuff. He may be a little hard to relate to because he's still used to how newspapers used to run when he was in the business. He knows everything about journalism though. I learned a ton from this class. I would definitely recommend him.

Good teacher. He is willing to help you though he may seem to turn students off by his challenging ways. That is the class more than him. You have to have the course pack, you will fail otherwise.

Tom Beell is a very nice guy and the lectures are actually pretty fun because all you do is watch movie clips. The tests made no sense and you definitely need to take the first one to learn what he's looking for. Decent class, easy for a 400 level.

One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. You'll write 2 reviews, a 6 page term paper on whatever you want and you'll watch a lot of movie clips. Beell's a good guy, but needs to figure out a way to show his clips faster so sifting through the dvd menu doesn't take so long.

Very interested in his subject, but his enthusiasm doesn't transfer to the class (esp. not at 8am). Bring the workbook to class every day, because he always uses it. The class is 2 hrs long, but after the first few weeks, he starts to end a little earlier. Make sure you attend class, because he'll be much more lenient with you if you get behind.

Beell is terribily unclear with a strong tendency to ramble and all of the material covered in his class is pretty much useless.

He really knows his stuff but he likes to ramble on a lot and tell personal stories about himself. I'm not sure where they got that he loses assts but he really hasn't misplaced that many assts in my class.

Pros: He knows a lot about the practice of journalism. A good 201 teacher for students serious about learning the tricks of their future trade. Cons: Can be disorganized, sometimes loses track of assignments.

His boring and irrelevant babbling wastes my time. He never sticks to the syllabus so keeping track of assignments is very difficult. He loses papers and then just gives you what he THINKS you might have gotten. He is a sweet man, but is needing to retire.

The man knows a****load about movies, but couldn't raise his voice to get the class to shut up if it meant saving his life. Easy class, didn't even have to go.

He taught a grad-level seminar course I took. I enjoyed the course and learned something about television. He's still active in the journalism community and well respected.

Comment:
RIDICULOUS! Gives NO direction, NO explanation, provides NO expectations, very unorganized. Homework is piled upon students who have not been effectively taught.
