Comment:
I took this class in 1992. Dr. Bertenshaw will help you pass his class if you are willing to learn and show some respect. Do not ask so many questions but rather do study groups so you can learn. Do not copy each other.

Worst Professor I have ever had. I passed his classes, but changed my major and school mainly because of him. What a jerk.

who let him become the department head???? i think you need to go ask him that question, or anyone else, and you'll find out there wouldn't be a department without him, he is a hard teacher but if you show him you want to learn and dont whine about everything he will help you and you will grow to enjoy him as a teacher.

"Go kill yourself" is his response when you correct him - which happens alot because he is getting senile and is losing his grasp on the material. Biased, scattershot grading, no lesson plans, tests are random. Best piece of advice is write SOMETHING on every single test question, he doesn't grade on right answers, just if your "process" looks good

The WORST teacher I've ever had - a sad thing considering this is such an important class. Essentially calls the students morons for not knowing what he hasn't taught us yet, and when he gets around to teaching it - never does one problem right. I sure hope this guy retires soon.

Comment:
Unhelpful, demeaning, obviously only out to prove that he knows what the students don't and rub their faces in it. No lessons plans evident, makes innumerable mistakes doing work on the board, usually unable to completely finish a sample problem correctly

If there was anyone else teaching this course, I wouldn't be in it. He makes tons of mistakes while writing notes, doesn't test from the notes he gives (or from the book for that matter), and is generally unpleasant to talk to.

Better than last semester, but still the biggest jerk of a teacher I've ever had. If you ask a question in class, or even through email, he likes to demean you in front of the whole class.
