Dr. Kane is a nice guy, but his lectures are very dry. You can tell he is passionate about the subject, but that doesn't make him any better of a teacher. His tests are unnecessarily difficult. There's three total, and then two papers (super easy) that he averages into a test grade. He offers extra credit, but its a 7 page research paper.

He's a nice man and you can tell he cares about his students but the class is very challenging. There's 2 tests plus the final and 2 mandatory papers. The papers are easy but there's a lot of information you need to know for the tests. If you enjoy the subject and you're up for the challenge you won't mind. He does offer an extra credit assignment.

Engaging lecturer but he preaches about optimal challenge and then his exams blow you out of the water with the copious amounts of information you are expected to retain and integrate. The challenge does not meet the average skill level of this class - maybe he is trying to promote motivation but most of his students just experience anxiety :(

This was my favorite class. Very interesting and applicable. He did a good job teaching it. He really cares about your success, and I've even talked to him about grad school and stuff when he didn't have to. He is very kind and helpful. This course isn't easy. You have to study hard for the tests. His thing is "the bigger picture" and concepts.

He does not seem to care about his students success, just says that if you didn't do well you didn't apply yourself well enough. His lecture slides are confusing and he often goes off on tangents without addressing many of the points. He's condescending over email and acts as if students have no other obligations aside from his course. Do not take.

Don't ever expect to get out of his class early. He will use every second he has with you to continue with lecture, even if he has to move on to the one he has for next class period. Most of your grade comes from the three tests, which are VERY difficult. You don't use the text very often, he uses his own slides for lectures. Be prepared to study!

He's one of the nicest teachers I've had and really cares about each student, but lectures are simply repetitive. I felt like we were talking about the same thing every day. This class was incredibly easy though, assignments were simply and he wasn't a hard grader at all.

Dr. Kane is one of the most boring professors I have ever had. His lectures are long and broad and you learn nothing from them. He treats the class as if it is a graduate level class when it clearly is not. Do not take this class if you do not have to. He also cannot pronounce words correctly, and he thinks that he knows everything. Don't take him

Comment:
Kane's class is tough. You think you understand his lectures but you don't. Exams are brutal, and he is all over the place with his lectures and slides. Would do so much better if what he taught he made it more clear cut instead of everything being so abstract and applied. On the other hand he does have a nice rear end to look at.

Kane is very ambigous with his statements and assignments so its tough to know exactly what he wants on assignments. His lectures are clear, but then he expects you to apply your knowledge to a higher level on tests and assignments. This fustrates many students. He is a nice guy.

Comment:
Dr. Kane wanted the best for students, but his tests were difficult. His first test was easy. But, the rest of his tests were difficult. This threw me off. On the second test it was expected that students memorize more than 25 people and their contributions to psychology. To make matters worse, he made most of the questions tricky.

Awesome professor! Interesting lectures, thought provoking discussions, one of the best classes I've taken at MSU. However, I hope you don't care about GPA - tests are BRUTAL! Questions can be confusing and vague. READ THE TEXT! You won't regret taking a class with Dr. Kane, but your GPA will.

Dr. Kane is one of the best professors at Missouri State. He is always willing to help you if you have questions. He really cares about his students and it shows. This class isn't an easy A...you actually have to do the work and learn the material. But isn't that why we're in college? Dr. Kane is a great professor!!!

Dr. Kane is a very nice guy, but he was a mess in this class. It was his first time teaching but he was ridiculous. He wouldn't post the notes before hand, but didn't give enough time to take good notes and he once forgot to post notes for a test. His tests were hard, but he adjusted the difficulty on the next ones. Didn't enjoy the class.

My least favorite professor of the year. Extremely repetitive on his subject. Hard to get ahold of for any kind of help. Gave vague directions for all assignments. Graded differently than he said he would. Altogether, I would NEVER take his class again, even if it was easy to ace.
