Honestly he is the best professor I have ever had. I now go to a 4 year school for history and political science. Mandeville is a great teacher. I was always excited to go to class because he tells history like he's telling a story. Wish I could have taken him to university with me. he's better than most professors here.

I have awful comprehension so I usually don't do well in classes that are only lecture. This class is 100% lecture and I LOVE it! I take 2-3 pages of notes for every class and study using flashcards. I only use the textbook in class and his lectures are like story time when you were a kid. I might take another class with him!

I took this course online. I have taken many courses online and this one, by far, was one of the most involved.....if you want that A. You need to read the material and participate in MANY of the discussions. Other than that, it was not a difficult class.

I didn't have the best experience with this professor. Taking it online I had a few questions and was confused with how the online process works. Instead of getting help I was told to read the directions or drop the class. I have never had a professor tell me to drop their class before because I didn't understand something, not impressed.

If you take both 101 and 102 you will get your moneys worth if you buy the bigger text book.I used a voice recorder and took ~4-5 sometimes more pages of notes per class. It is best if you go back and organize your notes into an outline. I love how he teaches,it like story telling- easier to understand! Enjoy!

ONLINE CLASS: I had a terrible experience with him. He came across pompous and unwilling to help. I would ask for help clarifying, all I would get was "read the directions again." Assigns a ton of mandatory discussions.

I don't really like his teaching style. Everything is 100% oral. Not the best teacher for a visual learner. But he sure knows his stuff. Go to review classes and you'll do fine

Awesome teacher, never bought the book, survived with an A. Take notes and you'll pass. All I did was review my notes before tests, really simple class!!!!!!!!!

This class required more reading and writing than it should have for a 200 level. It was an absolute waste of time with nothing learned except to never take a class with him again. Also poor use of skills with the computer constantly having quizzes lost, overall a big headache.

Awesome Professor. There should be more like him. I changed my major because of this man. I still keep in touch with him, he was more than a professor. He was a mentor, and he is greatly appreciated.

Took his class Fall 2008. I enjoyed this class so much I changed my major from English to History. Entire class is lecture - it isn't easy. Better study for tests - and there are only 4 per semester. If you a poor test taker - this is NOT the class for you. Nice guy - very clear - and funny. I highly recommend!

Very good teacher. need to take notes, and listen. only uses textbook for visual aid and to read on your own, which you dont have to do if you take good notes.

He has a clear voice that is impossible not to hear, even from another room. His lectures are informative and entertaining. You can't help but learn something in his classes. His passion really comes through.

I liked the fact that there wasn't any homework, essays...ect... all you had to do was go to class, take a lot of notes, and study the notes...There are only three tests these are the only grades, so if you aren' t a good test taker or note taker, this class might not be for you... He seemed passionate, and a good story teller-

This class was very relaxing. You could tell that he was really interested in the subject that he taught and tried to spark interest through his lectures. His lectures were done in a manner so that it was like he was telling you a story.

He's a good teacher but all he does is lecture, which doesn't help visual learners like myself.
