One of the most amazing and charasmatic professors I have ever had. Very dedicated to producing fine nursing students. He will make you work hard, but if you do the work he will bend over backwards to help you. Just get on board with his wry sense of humor; you will love him!

This is the best professor that Grossmont and National University has to offer. He is very knowledgable in the subject that he is presenting. He is so amazing. I wish there were more professor like him, with such passion for nursing. He comes across difficult at first, but he is really kind, approachable, and helpful. I miss being in his class.

Tom is the best instructor I have ever had. He is demanding but for good cause, hello peoples lives are in your hand! I have the up most respect for this guy. He is so dedicated to producing the best nurses, and he does. Tom is the reason for the great reputation grossmont nursing carries. Listen to the man he knows what he is doing.

He is the best in the west! Very knowledgeable & very helpful & very compassionate & understanding. He is strict but he just wants his student to succeed. You probably hate him in the beginning but by the end of your clinical you will love him!

Tom is very direct in what he wants and how it wants it. He's the first to admit to be a little AR but heh...you will learn the concepts and be way ahead of your colleages when you start working in the real world. He is quick to respond to emails,&goes out of his way to make sure you succeed. If you don't do well, it's on you.

You'll hate him at first...that's a given...but listen to the man!! He knows what he's talking about and whatever you do....just DO IT HIS WAY! He's very clear about what he wants and when he wants it. He can be very anal!

Tom Oertel: The 1st day I hated him, every day afterwards I not only liked him, but developed a deep respect for the man. Tom has an uncanny ability to simplify some of the most complicated concepts, and is a fountain of knowledge & experience-very cool!
