Smith is one of the best professors in the social work department! Smith is difficult but you leave his class knowing the material. He has dry humor which I found hilarious and he is available if you need him. He will put you on the spot but if you come to class prepared you have nothing to worry about.

Tom is a pretty interesting professor and a great teacher. He is a bit of a smart ass ,very sarcastic and funny but the man knows the DSM like no other. His teaching methods seem a bit weird at the beginning but by the end I promise you everybody in that class passed with an A or a B. Test are online and there only 3. make sure you TAB the DMS

Dr. Smith is a funny guy. He makes a lot of hilarious jokes but then becomes very serious. He can be intimidating but ultimately it was a great course. I'd take him again.

Comment:

He's pretty ruthless in calling people out in class for answers. You do get used to it though. Knows the DSM like the back of his hand and he helps you understand it. Tests are very difficult but they're open book and online and if you can make a case that he's wrong he will bump up your grade. Ultimately I'm glad I took Psychopathology with him.

This course, which I chose as an elective because I plan to be a therapist, was entirely worthless. Smith uses the audience as a soapbox to feed his ego, but is not insightful enough to warrant the arrogance. He makes constant jokes at the expense of clients, saying they are not bright and for us to lie to them, and he appears to really mean it.

Fantastic professor. Yeah- there is a lot of work but it's college (grad school even). He has a great sense of humor and if you can laugh at yourself, you will have a fun time in class... not to mention a better life. A+++

I've never rated a professor before. But this has been one of the most unusual and educational courses that I have ever taken. Dr. Smith mixes jokes with serious comments about diagnostic skills. It's like you learn a lot just by listening to what he's saying. Take his class!

Bizarre man. Disrespectful towards students and inept at teaching. Doesn't explain or understand concepts himself. Unable to respond without sarcasm.
