I don't know how you can beat Tony Lake as a proseminar professor... the guy is amazing. Not only is his career incredible (Wikipedia him if you aren't familiar), but he's a talented teacher who loves the subject matter and cares about the welfare of his students. Take his proseminar!!

Liked Lake's class a lot. 5 papers over the course of the class, pretty heaving reading sometimes but if you're not writing the paper you can bs and get by. His stories from national security adviser are great, and he's helpful during office hours. If you can get this class, do it.

had him for prosem. you have to write five three-page essays over the course of the class, and you can choose when to write them. he pretty much gives you a b plus on every essay no matter how good or bad it is. i'd recommend it because he gives you awesome stories and was actually involved with the cases he talks about, but he isnt a great teacher

I did not enjoy this class as much as I thought I would. Prof. Lake is VERY knowledgeable, but too impersonal and plays favorites. His grading was consistently unfair (did not penalize people for using Wikipedia in papers), his advice was muddled, and I did not feel like the class was as much of a community as the other proseminars.

this is the best class anyone will have at georgetown, and you get it as a freshman. he is hilarious, probably the smartest man i've ever met, and the most knowledgable in his field. his political views are moderate, the class only meets once a week, great field trips. you learn about every important for. policy decision in the past 50 years.

My proseminar was my favorite class this year, and not just because I was interested in Foreign Policy. His stories are great, and even though the class was 2 hours long, I always wanted more. The work load is n't that bad 5 papers over 11 weeks but you pick which weeks and what topics and they're only 3 pgs long. If you can take this class!
