First off, make an independent judgement on whether or not you want to take this class with Tony - Anthony Power. Understand that he writes the positive reviews. He is a cynic and will ruin your GPA. Most of the class were honor students in the Top200 program yet he gave everyone C's and D's. We all finished somewhere in the C+ to B range. Think.

I took this class in fall 2018. This class requires dedication and hard work. You get out what you put in; participation is mandatory and that includes more than just showing up to class. I went to 7 office hours to asked for feedback on my assignments and Tony was always willing to help. Get start on group assignment right away.

Always looking forward to coming to Tony's class every week. Nice and engaging professor who is always willing to help students. Make sure you pay attention in class because he tells you exactly what he wants on the projects. Come to class and make sure he knows your face, this is key to getting a good participation mark. Overall great professor.

Nice guy and engaging professor, his instructions for the assignments were pretty clear but I wish he was more open minded re opinions that didn't match his own. Course has way too much group work which has you scrambling around last minute for personal assignment, which was a shame. I enjoyed this class despite the work load and learned a lot.

Attendance is important as is participation. Expectations for assignments are very clear with lots of opportunities to ask for further clarification in class. If you go to his office hours with a partially completed assignment he'll tell you what you need to do to get an A.

BUS800 is done differently by different profs. If you want a structure where the only right answer is the profs answer then Tony is your best bet. If you want to actually learn strategy then I would advise to take another prof.

Tony is fair, in my opinion. Very clear about his expectations and assignments. He is very patient with students and if you ask him he will give you a good feedback and guidance. The course is a lot of work, so be ready to dedicate some time to it.

Rec'd A+ in class. Enjoyed discussions we had in class, professor Power likes to cover current events that are related to course work which I appreciated. He has specific goals in mind for the case studies, but if you attend class, participate, ask questions, and ask for clarification he is very willing to help. I quite enjoyed my class with him.

Smart guy although undoubtedly one of the tougher BUS800 profs. If you're willing to put in the effort you'll get a lot out of the course. Forming a good group is key and affects your grade far more than anything else. Be careful! Overall I really enjoyed the class though and learned a lot.

Read the chapters beforehand and participate in class, always ask questions if you have any they will be clarified! Have a solid group for the projects and go to his office hours. Class is not easy by any means but Powers is a quality professor

people on here really overact about him. He is one of the hardest profs for BUS 800, but if you actually come to class, pay attention and do the work you'll do fine. Again it's a 4th year class, he assess whether you're ready or not. If you complain because you tried to slip by and did awful, good luck in the real world

He is avery arrogant professor who shouldnt be teaching Strategic Management as he closes your open thinking(the core of strategic mgt).He expects you to think what he is thinking - basically his wayor no way!!Not recommended

BUS800 - it's called strategic management for a reason. Attendance is mandatory as per the course outline and Tony takes it seriously. My marks received for the first couple of assignments were disappointing. After talking to him, I felt more clear of what was expected and ended up with a better than expected grade. Participate in class discussions

First, BUS 800 is a hard course regardless of the Professor. In the beginning I was really worried about my grade, but by the end my grade was much higher than I expected (I got a B when I thought I was going to get a C-) Ask for help, he is very willing to answer any questions.

Definetely a fun class. I was wary after reading some of the comments here but I got D on the first assignment, went for help, and Tony helped me achieve a final grade of A. As others have said, course is heavy but fun also. Pick good group members.

When the class does poorly (which is always the case), he'll blame it on students not going to his office hours (which is at 8AM) for extra help. If he knew how to teach properly, students wouldn't be required to seek extra help. It just blows my mind how awful an instructor can be.

By far the worst professor in Ryerson. He is really missing the whole point of an education. His last name says it all, he is on a huge 'POWER' trip. He is constantly defending himself and contradicting himself. Please avoid this professor at any costs and warn anyone that takes a class with him. You will learn nothing from him! I promise you that.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the comment about "whining" here was written by him. He just marks way too hard because his marking scheme is completely subjective. I worked on the report with 3 friends, all with different professors. One got an A, another one got a B+, and of course I get a C for submitting essentially the same work. Huh.
