He is really good at explaining material, offering help, and assigning work that is relevant to what you are learning. That being said, he assigns a TON of work (in-class-every-class, assignments, and term-wide project). I would not recommend taking a Tony class at the same time as anything else with a large time commitment.

People who do not do well in this course just do not work hard. If you work hard he will reward you for it. You will become a munch better computer scientist from this class. He is passionate about what he teaches and I have never had a smarter professor. He is an inspiring and caring professor that you seldom come across

Comment:

People don't appreciate how much effort this guy puts into teaching and he expects you to put in the same amount of effort. At times this class was so hard I felt angry towards him but then I realized how eager he is to help and in the end I was glad he pushed me so hard. I became a much better and more employable programmer from this class.

Really awesome professor who cares a lot for the topics in the course as well as the students. The in class work + assignments + final project is A LOT of work, but I am glad that we have professors like this who actually get us to implement things. If you can't be bothered to write the code for this class, good luck in industry.

This course has 22 class and all the class has class task (Takes time)and he expect the student to finish then within the class even though in his class task note he does mentioned this may take more than one class. Then he has 4 assignment in this class and all of them are big long one takes a while to make it work. Please reconsider the outline.

Such a nice and caring prof. He's passionate about what he teaches and he made me feel very passionate it too. But be warned that he will teach a lot of concepts (making you an amazing programmer that will woo others) but these concepts are tough and time consuming, his office is always open for help which you will need a lot of. Always go!

Great prof, does a very good job at explaining the concepts and definitions. Assignments aren't too bad. Each assignment had a lot of short, medium difficulty questions. Went out of his way to help make sure students passed the course, by holding his own tutorials for students to make up poor for poor midterm marks

Lots of harsh comments here, I actually found him to be a really good prof, his assignments are tough but fair, same with the exams. You can tell he cares a lot, he makes himself available for extra help and even ran tutorials that he wasn't paid for. It's more than likely that most people come to this site because they failed at one of his courses

I'm fairly certain I'm the only one who actually finished every question in all assignments he gave, so watch out for that. Likes to test you on definitions, not concepts. Just read his notes, no point in showing up to his class.

A really good prof that definately knows his stuff. He loves his students and has a very high expectation of students, and so his assignments/tests are very difficult! But that just shows how good the guy is and how he rarely drops his quality of teaching. You will understand a lot in his courses. Just try to keep up with him though!

He's VERY academic, which can make him hard to understand at times, so be warned. He's also extremely accessible and willing to help (more than ANY other CS prof I've encountered). The material can be a little out there, but it's not hard if you give it a good try.

This guy really doesn't care. He only teaches the course cause no one else will. You'll see what I mean once the first assignment comes out. And if he ever says he'll post extra material or sample solutions don't hold your breath. Also, his exams suck a lot, you can tell he wrote them the night before cause they don't reflect lectures at all.

Although he presents the course material effectively, his assignments are extremely difficult and midterm/final's are close to impossible. You'll learn a lot, but don't count on an easy grade!
