Professor Norman is seriously an amazing teacher! As long as you put in effort for your papers and pay attention to directions, you will get a good grade. All of the papers she assigns are very meaningful and overall, I felt like I learned so much about the real world in her class. I highly recommend!

Professor Norman is very understanding and has clear guidelines. She is extremely helpful and gives the assignment guidelines the first day so you are prepared. One thing she does not like is when students are late and skip class. She makes lecture fun and interesting.

Comment:

Professor Norman may be my favorite teacher at Black Hawk. She really cares about her students and knows how to connect with them. Do the homework and ask questions (she is more than willing to help); you will have no problem passing. You just have to be willing to work.

Extremely tough grader and she assingned so much busy work and a bunch of random assignments. If you fall behind there really is no such thing as catching up with her. She seems decent in person but is very rude via email and comments on homework. I definitely won't be taking another English course with her.

Very unclear and rude. Not helpful with anything and does care about her students unless she likes them. She is the toughest grader I have ever had and I could never receive a good grade from her. English was always my strongest subject and now I can't even get above a C on anything. Terrible teacher, do not take.

She is an amazing teacher who clearly loves what she does. Her book is used often and she had it made personally so that the only passages in it are the ones she wants us to read so buy it. The Quick Access book is not needed. Her research paper is so easy she is practically writing it for you. Plenty of short writing assignments but it is ENGLISH.

I have always been an A English student until Ms. Norman. I had no idea when quizzes were because she was very unclear about the material we were supposed to be reading outside of class and when quizzes would be. I've always been told Im a fantastic writer but apparently Ms. Norman would disagree. The whole class was about poor treatment of blacks

The toughest grader I have ever had. I am currently in two different English courses and the difference in grading is obvious. I'm getting an A+ in the other class and a C- in this class. I have always been an A+ English student, but Norman doesn't seem to think so. I worked my butt off and won't get anything higher than a C. I don't recommend.

1)Very harsh/picky when grading.2)never responded to my emails in a timely manner.3)I'm in the military, didn't have a lot of free weekends for turning things in on time. students have online responses for writings. I was without internet and not afforded time to respond to other students because they wait until the last day to post. AVOID!!!!!!

This teacher was a huge mistake. She has clarity issues which makes this class difficult. She would never provide feedback either, which made it impossible to correct your mistakes. Her grading is harsh and erractic, I received everything from A's to F's from her. I am an A-B student and work hard, but I think it's impossible to please her.

Ms. Norman is a hard teacher, but a fair teacher. She is a master at what she does and because of that expects excellence from her students. If you want to become a master at Lit. and Eng, then she's the one. Be prepared to work, but well rewarded for your time and effort.

I took Introduction to Literature online, and it was such a good choice. She made it very manageable and it was not a pain. There is a lot of reading, but it really should be. The work is not hard, but it exposes you to a lot of literature. Definitely recommended! Just do the work and sign in 5 days a week, and an A is attainable! Great class!
