Literature into Film is one of the more interesting writing classes available. She is nice and she really knows what she is talking about, but she is a tough grader. I learned a lot but it was a lot of work living up to her standards.

Great class to learn how to write. I hated writing before I came to college, since I'm a sciene major, but she really taught me how to write papers. Just do the work, go to her office hours, and always ask questions, she really wants to help you! oh, and she'll read paragraphs and ideas if you email them to her.

Don't think you're going to watch movies all the time in 'lit into film' -- this is not a film class. Prof only shows brief clips and then makes us discuss them in relation to the original lit texts. Expects us to watch films on our own.

Prof. Strauss doesn't look tough but she is! You have to work in her class to earn a good grade and she rarely gives A's. On day one she says the class is a "seminar" not a "lecture" and she sticks to her word -- and expects us to participate in critical discussion. Best prof I've had yet!

As far as required courses are concerned, Strauss isn't that bad. Class can be pretty dull though, esp. since the books we read are all books you have most likely already read in high school. Usually lets us out of class early and for some reason LOVES the word "conveys".

I have TLS right now for "Coming of Age in Amer Lit" and she is wonderful! She is one of the sweetest prof's ever and seems to really care about her students. She is easy to contact and very approachable. The class is light, extremely similiar to HS. Especially if you like English, go for it!
