Attendance makes 25% of your grade. Don't Miss Class. Save yourself some money, Don't bother with the textbooks Be ready to not understand what he's saying initially, Clears up after first few classes Don't take the syllabus as law, He doesn't do very well sticking to it. Tests, if you listen and study Great, if you have background knowledge, Great

If you attend class and take notes (like you're supposed to in every college class) the classes he offers are pretty easy. He tells you what you need to know and gives you ample time to study. His Russian accent is thick but understandable. I really appreciate that he is still teaching and I had the opportunity to take two classes with him.

Kostyleff is the best. I really enjoy his class a lot as he tries to make the history easy. The exams are easy as long as you study a little bit and take notes in the class. However, you will write a lot of notes in class, so either have great note taking skills or be prepared to experience hand cramps from writing too much!

Professor Kostylev is such a sweet man with a great story. Once you take the first class it is super easy to understand him and he really tries to make the history interesting. The exams are pretty easy as long as you study a little bit and take notes in lecture. I really recommend him as a professor because he is so great and an easy A.

You can't understand anything he's saying, his accent is so thick. He goes off on tangents. Sometimes you have no idea what he's even saying or what hes talking about.

Kostyleff is the best. he gets so into his own lectures he throws chalk. his tests are identifying terms and one essay. his lectures are hard to follow. just write down whatever terms he puts on the board and you'll pass. attendance is taken. when he grades test, he will give you an A if you try and attend class. he takes attendance

Prof. Kostylev is one of my favorite prof.I have had at YCP. He is some times hard to understand but other than that he is a very nice guy and his class is very easy. As long as you come to class often and have a pulse you will get a good grade.

If you are looking for an easy language credit, take Russian! I took both language courses and the lowest grade he gave was a B-. Easy class, interesting stories and a nice guy. Show up and have a pulse and youll do fine. One time he made me leave because I looked sick, he genuinely cares.

Nice guy, had him for Russian 1 and 2. If you pay attention and make the slightest attempt to do well you'll get an A. He has an accent that might take a day or two to get used to. He does take attendance but there is no homework, the tests are easy, and he is kind of funny. Overall, he is a good professor who is passionate about teaching Russian.

I truley loved his clas, yes he was hard to understand at first but after a couple days its easy to catch on. I love teachers who are passionate about what they teach & this man truely loves his country, he often shows pictures from his large text book and walks around to show everyone. His tests are easy if you review your notes a couple times.

Intro Russia. Did not understand a word this guy was trying to say... He will pull grades out of nowhere, I scored 2 A's and an A- and went to every class and still somehow got a 3.5? Most boring class i have every taken; however, no hw or projects. Might still be a good choice for an ADR though... you will never have another class like this one

EZ! Pay attention and take notes and there's no way to fail. Just four tests - each with essay. He gives you the essay choices ahead of time. Takes attendance and ppl figure they don't have to show. With only 4 tests, he must factor in attendance. I had same content on an exam but I got a better grade than a classmate who's out a lot.

No college experience is complete without prof Kostylev. He genuinly cares about his students and wants you to learn. The class may be an easy A and he may be hard to understand at first but you will learn an otherwise difficult language. He is easy to talk with and ask questions. I would absolutley recommend him to any one for a language class.

At least make an effort on a quiz/test and n you will pass with a C or better. He takes attendence but you can get notes from another student if you miss. I had him in an evening class and he lets you out early.

A very boring class, but the guy is an ex-KGB worker who sold secrets to the U.S. in order to get out of Russia so you have to give him his due. Seems to wear the same exact suit and tie every class which is entertaining, with tests that are pretty easy. Prepare to wake yourself up during class tho
