Vance is a great lecturer, and the lectures are really necessary to get the best out of the class. Lots of discussion, and Vance is knowledgeable enough about the content that he's able to clarify any misunderstandings or confusions that come up.

Generous with grades. Extremely patient and understanding. Be careful not to drift away into your own thoughts because when you get called upon (trust me, you will) you might feel lost, however, Vance will make it that you are not embarrassed or anything. He will try to relate what ever nonsense you might have just said with the lesson.

He is an awesome teacher. Best of last semester. He can sometimes go off on tangents about some things. However if anything needs to be more clear or if you want extra help, he is more than willing to do so. Overall I can't wait to take more classes from Vance

Vance is really into including the entire class in discussions which keeps things engaging. Very willing to help with assignments and is flexible on deadlines. Easy marker and very relaxed during lectures. He gave our class the essay question for the final exam in advance. Really liked having him as a professor and enjoyed the class!

One of my favourite teachers of all time. Philosophy 101 and 180, as well as Religious Studies were three of the best courses I've ever taken in my life. The best philosophical and religious discussions I've ever had were in his classes, so take his classes if you have any interest in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or Sociology whatsoever.
