Admittedly, you'll enjoy the class. it was my favorite that semester. The median grade in the class, however, is ALWAYS a C!!!! There is a reason for that. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless your GPA is already WELL padded. I was told this and had to learn the HARD way.

Anyone that has a problem with Briggs is simply closed minded. He presents an amazing lecture based on years on experience and expertise in his field. His views have a logical base, and thereby should be respected despite political leanings. Probably my favorite professor at Cornell. Rock on Vernon!

I love this man! definitely one of the wisest persons ever. loves to interject his political opinions in lecture but they're funny and he ridicules both political parties. be prepared to write at least 4 pages per class. tough grader but you do well if you take good notes and memorize them. u learn a lot even if u don't agree w/everything.

Briggs in his attempts to be "un-PC" delivers **** and laughable perspectives on immigration in the United States. He should grow up and accept some of the harsh realities that have come to exist in the U.S. when it comes to immigration and the labor force.

Briggs is a fascinating prof to take just bc his political views (conservative) are entirely diff than most of ILR. Much of what he said angered me, but I still enjoyed the class bc it challenged me. Incoherent in lectures (and no class discussion), tough grader, but I still recommend it.
