Vicky is wonderful. Extremely intelligent/knowledgable about her subject and overall just a really lovely person. Accessible outside of class and very helpful. She clearly wants her students to succeed. Thanks, Vicky!

Vicky is really nice. She assigns so much reading that it makes you want to die, but her in class notes basically tell you the story. You don't have to come to her class, but if you don't want to read then skipping is a mistake. She can be critical when students talk in class, but she is also really excited when people participate. willing to help

Will rip apart everything you write and reword it. Boring as hell 3 hour classes. Super hard marker, I got 96 in high school english and I'm probably going to get an 80 in her class. Not a ton of hw but in class essays are hard. She's nice but not very clear sometimes.

dry reading material and most times, you won't be sure what it's about/means. Vicky makes it crystal clear during class time and reveals the humor in each one. Awesome prof and very helpful if you have any questions after class. There are 2 papers (1 can be a creative response instead) 2 tests , and one presentation but no midterms or finals!

Vicky is a lovely woman. She was enthusiastic about the content, and fun to listen to. And - she's British! She moves quite quickly though and her powerpoints are pretty jam-packed, so note taking was difficult at times. Her tests were fair, but make sure you study! (She might ask you to quote from memory.)

Avoid at all costs. Offer your opinion at your own risk. If it doesn't match perfectly with her own limited views, it's wrong. She laughs at you when you mispronounce a foreign word. She picks the most obtuse reading material possible for a first year english course. Nobody in the class has a good thing to say about her. Worst prof ever

A lot of people think she's hard, but honestly all you have to do is read the literature actively. It was one of the easiest grades I've ever gotten. All the classes were discussion-based, which made them really fun to go to. Great prof!

Excellent teacher with high expectations. You need to attend classes & participate and act like you want to be there & learn something. Cancelled classes once so we could have some one on one time with her to review our final essays. Very helpful & had clear expectations of us.

She teaches you MLA really well and her textbook requirement is expensive but really helpful for citing. However, her marking is terribly unfair and tough; she doesn't recognize that it's a first level course and treats all work as if it's 300 level. Very enthusiastic but her marking is too hard, a big challenge to get "good" marks in her class.

Chilly pepper was not earned whatsoever. on top of this her teaching style was terrible. she marked papers without giving much feedback and didnt tell you how to improve next time. also, class participation was a big factor in every paper mark. STAY AWAY!

Ridiculous. Not only was I accused of plagiarism because my research paper was too good in comparison to the first two works ( a personal story & an in class composition) but if you don't participate you're done for, if you do participate she'll say you're wrong along with marking in class work like you had a week to write it. Terrible teacher.

Interesting accent, but hard to focus on what she is saying because every second word happens to be umm..ah.. She never explained how she would like you to write, just wanted you too. The stories read in class are interesting. Plus class discussion is a huge part!!

BORING! Vicky managed to make a subject I love completely uninteresting. She offered nothing new and definitely cannot think outside of her little box. At least during class discussions students could (attempt) to share their opinions, which were more interesting than Vicky's!

Absolutely dreadful teacher. Completely biased when it comes to marks given and class participation. Class participation is everything in this class, and your mark will greatly suffer without it. Class is as well boring and based solely on class discussion, while abstract concepts are made by individuals to areas that need no addition. DO NOT TAKE

I really liked Vicky, but more importantly, I learned some very important do's and don'ts for writing in English, and unlearned some bad habits. As an English teacher, she succeeded in doing her job, because I improved as a result of her class. She is nice as long as you are not a complete stooge - and we had a couple in our class.

If you like history classes then she's the prof for you...funny I thought I was supposed to be taking an English class. Super boring, and when you try to add to class discussion she either says nothing or asks for other opinions, not supportive at all. very "inside the box" teaching style, no unorthodoxy allowed.

Boring, boring, boring. Classes were based on group discussions and it didn't feel like I got a whole lot out of the class. She's a really nice prof though and is passionate about english. Pulled off with a decent mark and have to say that her essays and exam were both pretty easy.

Interesting material and essays she chose for the readings. I actually like the discussions we have in class. Very cheerful and tries hard to pass on her enthusiasm, but sometimes we just don't have the same energy at 8:30am. Overall, very enjoyable teacher. Hard marker, but very helpful and willing to meet with you to learn how to do better.
