Comment:

Mister Cates is probably the best math instructor ever. His unique way of teaching is simply AMAZING! His tests are pretty easy and quizzes are from the notes taken in class. He gives a lot of HW but never ask for them to be turned in. An A grade is guaranteed. He makes the concept very very simple by comparing it to real life examples.

Coach Cates is a good teacher if you know math to begin with; his quizzes are helpful and I like that he uses the book for homework. I'm not the best at math, and it didnt help that our math class was never on schedule with math lab, but I did learn what Coach Cates taught.

I feel like Mr. Cates would be a better teacher in a higher level math class. I attended all classes, took notes, did the homework and did not pass. He assumes that everything is common sense and that you learned it in highschool so all he is doing is reviewing you, but that isn't always the case.

Terrible teacher! He has to be a better coach than teacher. He would rant and rave rather than explaining problems to my class. If we asked him to explain a problem, he seemed upset at how we didn't know the material and then would start to work the problem out but never finish. Do not take him if you struggle at all in math.

Reansons why people fail 100/110 A)They dont go to class. B)They don't listen and take notes. C)Even though the homework isn't for a grade doesn't mean you shouldn't do it! D)They don't go to math lab. GO TO MATH LAB AND GET KUNKEL. The quizzes he gives are to help your grade they are open note/book. They are super similar to the HW if you do it!

Whatever you do do not take this mans calls. I failed. I came straight out of high school and failed his class. I even went to talk to him about my grade and he made it seem like ll I had to do was pass the test.... Hes doesn't check or grade homework and his grades are based on nothing but tests and quizzes

This so-called "PROFESSOR" is not one at all!! As usual on the UTM campus they all figure ALL students are fresh out of high school & don't think for a moment you might not have been in school for over 10 years!! DON'T TAKE HIM! He has no understanding of students!

He is the worst math teacher ever! He used to be a coach, so he yells everything! He also gives daily quizzes, and everyone fails them. He tries to give you short cuts to problems, and they actually make it harder. He does not know how to teach. Avoid taking his classes!

Insane! Not only will he not help you outside class, he teaches math like truck driving school! I knew most of my math but bombed ACT... Come in here, knowing the formulas, and can read them out of the book, but he insists on teaching a simpler way that is actually harder and not useful! Daily quizes are arbitrary, no time 2 make sure u understand!

this class is impossible. he constantly makes mistakes in front of the class and is hard to follow. doesn't want to help outside class and teaches math for simple people because we will never need it again but his simple ways are harder including guess and check. no homework grade but daily quizes and 5 chapter exams and one final. avoid.

Impossible! Accidentally placed in this class and this guy could not teach his way out of a paper bag! Attempts to teach you "short cuts" that only make the subject harder as it is not the correct method. 5 chap tests, 1 final, countless in class quizes. Not personable, don't bother seeking help outside class. Baseball coach and should stick 2 it!!

Not a very personable teacher, but I did learn a lot. I HATE MATH. But he teaches math in a way that makes it easier to understand. I still hate math, but at least I do understand it a little better now. Doesn't check homework. Grades are based on test grades and one small extra credit assignment which helps some, but not a lot.
