She is an amazing women, and an even better professor! She is from Spain, so her accent confused me a little bit at first. Make sure you know the vosotros form! She is very personable, and loves when students ask questions or attempt to answer them. She gives amazing feedback, and is not a harsh grader?

One of my favorite professors at UWL! She is such a sweet woman, and she is more than willing to help you if you have questions. Really just wants you to participate and speak in class. Also very passionate about the class because she is from Spain. Do the homework, pay attention during reviews (and study info from reviews!) and you will get an A.

Don't expect to know how you are doing in the class: she never puts grades in. Really struggled to stay engaged in class... very boring lectures. However, she is a very nice woman and will help if you ask for it

Calmes is amazing. She's from Spain, and the class is about spanish culture, so she clearly knows what she's talking about. Her exams are consistent and she's easy to understand. Hands down the best spanish professor I've had so far and I'm almost done with my minor.

Calmes is really consistent. The class has a lot of busy work homework but that helps you to master the language. She is pretty picky on essay writing. Overall, GREAT professor. I learned so much in her class because she expected so much of her students!

I LOVE her! I'm a big fan of spanish but teachers can be up and down as far as quality. I signed up for 2 more classes with her next semester because I enjoyed it so much. So clear, easy to understand, and very helpful. TAKE HER if you actually want to learn and not be lost.

Absolutely wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed this class. She is an excellent professor who is willing to answer any question you might have. She teaches the material very clearly and always asks if there are any questions before moving on. Overall a fantastic professor! Definitely take this class with her!

Excelente! I adore her! She is always willing to explain and goes at a great pace. She wants to make sure you really understand the material; saying that, I found the course EXTREMELY easy... but it's an easy A!

This film class is pretty interesting. One film per week (outside of class) for the entire semester. The films aren't always super interesting, but not bad. Discussion in class almost daily about the films. Calmes really enjoys teaching this class, which is evident and helpful.

She is my favorite Spanish teacher at UW-L (along with Dr. Lake). One of the best teachers at UW-L! Her Hispanic Literature class was awesome! It took a lot of time outside of class, but its Hispanic Lit, its what you sign up for. Amazing at explaining concepts & super nice lady! I love Calmes like a second mom!

I LOVE HER! I've been taking spanish since middle school, and she is the best spanish teacher i've ever had. The way she explains concepts are so clear; i never before understood the difference between por/para, but the way she explains it makes it impossible not to learn. Take her if you can, I wish I had her for all of my spanish classes.
