This course sounds interesting but she makes it so boring. Every time I left class, I asked myself why I even went. Her lectures are very dry and she reads everything right out of the book, which we never actually used. Her tests are very hard. Don't expect her to respond to any e-mails. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

Great class, lecture based but extremely informative and interesting. She incorporates interactive cases on material and speakers along with the lecture. Attendance is not completely mandatory. Textbook use is minimal, all information needed in lecture through powerpoints. She may seem boring, but she is really passionate about forensics!

SO BORING. her tests are hard because theyre not on her lectures or book specifically, so i found myself studying for hours with no direction. Bring your computer to class so you dont have to die of boredom. Try to find someone who took the class previously - she lets you keep the quizzes and tests after you take them ;)

You'd think this class would be an easy A, but it is actually mind-numbing monotony. It's not hard but she is the most boring professor ever- like hearing your grandmother lecture you for an hour straight. Bring work for another class, or better yet, take some other science GE.

she is really nice but speaks quietly. Everyday she lectures and you usually do in class worksheets. Her tests are kind of hard she gives study guides, but just make sure you know everything for the tests. Never have homework, there is one big paper, and 3 tests.

The WORST professor I have ever had. She mumbled and bumbled in front of the powerpoint for an hour each class - then gave out tests that had nothing to do with what was on the slides. She was so hard to understand, I couldn't even take notes. I realize Neuro is a hard class, but she offered no extra help and was unclear about it all.

Lectures are boring and hard to hear. Guest speakers are usually extremely interesting. She is extremely helpful outside of class if you have questions. Some of the questions in class are vague and unclear but studyguides generally provide enough information. I got a B in the class w/o the texbook.

Her classes are always boring. Bring homework that you want to get done from other classes with you or find something on the internet that will keep you entertained during class. Her tests are recycled quiz questions with two essays additionally tacked on. Did not like science before and this class just reaffirmed that.

Dr. Carson is passionate about Forensics and she is happy to share her knowledge. It is best to do the readings so you get a good understanding of the material beforehand. There are a few classes where she shows gory images but you may turn your head. She brought in guest speakers from different fields. Offers many chances for extra credit.

Forensics was a really interesting class although it was sometimes hard to stay focused. The in-class labs are hands-on and interesting, and she gives quizzes often that are only extra credit. The exams are easy to pass if you study since all the questions were on past tests. She is a nice lady and it's too bad people don't respect her very much.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Most boring class ever, she scribbles on the whiteboard and expects us to understand what she's talking about. I read these comments before registering and decided to register anyway. BIG mistake.

Reads straight from powerpoint and makes an interesting subject completely boring. About 90% of the class does nothing but space out from beginning to end.

The reason all of these reviews are bad is because nobody respects her enough to listen to her. I found Forensics very interesting- sure she could be dull at times, but the information she was giving was very informative. This class can be great, it all depends on your attitude.

Almost didn't take the class cuz of these ratings, but I did and loved it. I hate reading, but the book is super interesting. Just read it before class and participate and she will like you. Yes, she can be boring but she really knows what she is talking about and she is super nice and helpful. Just do all the work and study and you will get an A!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Easily the worst class I've ever taken. She reads pointless powerpoints out loud while the class sleeps, facebooks, or even carries on full on conversations. Tests are ridiculous since she barely touches on the material on the test. I never knew an hour and fifteen minutes could go by so slowly.

Going to class is pointless because she just blandly reads off of power-points while literally everyone in the class is either facebooking or sleeping. She made me realize that i should take to heart the comments made here. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, i'm sure other Science Gen.Ed classes will not be a complete waste of time as this course

She's a nice lady, but unfortunately not a good teacher. She just reads her powerpoints and lectures mindlessly. Sometimes i wonder if she even confuses herself on what she is talking about. Puts stupid questions on the tests that have nothing to do with what we were supposed to learn.

Yes. She is as bad as your friends say. This class is terrible. Virginia Carson must wake up every day thinking "Today's the day I put them all to sleep." Her only goal in life is to bore you into a coma. You also learn next to nothing about forensics, so there is no reason to take this class even if you have an interest in it.

She seems pretty dry at first, but she's easy to listen to and if you listen to her you will grasp many of the general concepts of forensics easily. She doesn't seem to have the greatest level of expertise, but her expectations for the students are very reasonable. If you're looking to knock out your science credit, you could do much worse.

I signed up for Forensics thinking it would be interesting, but Dr. Carson somehow managed to make this subject incredibly boring. Most kids just bring their computers to surf the web during class which is a better use of time. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
