She's a really great professor! The class is entirely discussion based and she really cares about whether or not people participate so you really need to do the readings. There are a lot of readings, but they are totally manageable if you don't leave them to the last minute.

The lecture discussions were great - make sure you contribute at least once per class for participation. The best way to not embarrass yourself with what you say is to read the assigned reading, which will always be a lot. Take notes on the readings and take notes in class - Dr. Conger expects you to on your laptop or in a notebook.

Her class is easy to follow if you keep up but the second you fall behind it becomes EXTREMELY hard to catch up again and she does not offer much help. I was absent because of a medical issue and she was not very understanding.

Dr. Conger gets an A in my book. She has a passion for women's history and loves unique ideas and points of view. The class is very discussion-based so it is important to do the readings and take good notes. You need to work hard and think critically, but if you are interested in the subject of women's history, you will love her and her class.

Vivian is the west professor I have had in my entire college career. She teaches nothing. She will give us a reading assignment then will make us discuss it amongst ourselves in groups and rarely gives any input. Essentially we are teaching the class to ourselves. I give her a F

Vivian was not a good teacher at all. She used class discussions to teach the class rather than lecture. There is a lot of reading assignments and if you don't do the reading you will not get a good grade. Her tests are almost impossible to finish in time because she expects so much. I would reccommend a much easier teacher.

Vivian is a wonderful professor. She assigns a TON of reading, but then really makes you think about it and always encourages truly thoughtful discussions. The papers usually pose difficult, but thought-provoking questions. If you put in the effort, you will learn SO much in Vivian's classes. She's a great teacher AND a great person.

Great for a first-time 300 level history course. She really gets you into writing history papers with a clear argument. Class discussions are very helpful too. Be sure to come prepared with the reading and you will do just fine.

This class got old fast. She seemed like she had a good knowledge of the material, but the class was usually boring and repetitive. She also gets offended pretty easily and isn't that approachable. Plus there's a LOT of reading. I wouldn't recommend her classes to many people

Conger will give you a lot of work on a regular basis for any class level, including group homework assignments and lots of reading. Tests are not bad, but you will have to write fast (1 hr!). American Hist teachers seem tougher, maybe bc there is much less to learn about considering the shorter time spans the classes cover. Still I learned plenty.

Vivian is awesome and a great advisor! The Sexuality Seminar wasn't what I thought it would be. There is a lot of reading and the class is all discussion. There are no clear answers in the class and its mostly what you make of it. I had no tests or quizzes, just a 10pg midterm and the final is a group project & a paper.

Vivian is a good professor and a fantastic person. She does her best to drive discussion among her students. Sometimes this means getting off-topic, but discussions are always intelligent and comprehensive. Though reading assignments are heavy, you can get by by skimming. I'd definitely recommend getting to know her outside of class.

Vivan is great. She is a very Socratic teacher, but facilitates excellent discussion. I loved talking in her classes, and I'm a very quiet person. Definitely recommend her.
