Wah is one of my favorite professors. He may go into long tangents during lectures and the readings he assigns are often boring or strange, but you can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches and very intelligent. Super amiable and easy to ask for help. The documentaries he assigns are terrible though.

He is great! Although he likes to go off tangents quite often (which makes the class more interesting) he is truly brilliant. He really loves what he teaches. Plus the workload is super light! Enjoyable class :)

Professor Wah Cheng is such an inspirational teacher. His tangents and jokes make the class more personal and approachable. The topics are open, but he doesn't want you to write just anything because he's concerned for your grade too. If he doesn't think your idea works, he will tell you instead of saying it's good and then surprising you with a ba

His class was rather boring. He can be hard to understand and loves to go off on tangents but the class is incredibly easy to ace. The only work the whole semester was to write three papers.

He couldn't suggest a topic for a paper, but he could come up with all kinds of reasons why anything I suggested wouldn't work. Horrible. Never again. The class was discussion-based, which, thanks to facilitation skills that were limited to helpful prompts like "so... what do you think? anyone?", was also pretty dead.

The truncated version of my semester... Him: You can write about whatever you want. Me: What about X? Him: No, not that, but whatever you want. Me: Okay... What about Y? Him: No, that won't work. Me: Okay, give me an example of something that would work. Him: You know, whatever. ... And on and on.

I loved his class. Yes he does get sidetracked, but he is relatively to follow. He is passionate about what he teaches, which is nice. Also, anytime I needed help he was available and he was prompt in answering my emails, even when I emailed him at 1am. I admit his accent can be a bit hard to understand for some but it was not a problem for me.

Hilarious. Gives great lectures. Tons of reading. Interesting class structure: no tests, just essays. His obsession with food, particularly Chinese, is without bounds and he frequently goes off on tangents about it. He gives lots of clear feedback on papers. Overall, a really nice, fun guy, but still gives you a challenge.

I loved this class! Sure, his jokes can be cheesy at times, and downright ridiculous, but he tries. Very easy to get in contact with; if you're going to take an Asian history class, definitely take it with him.
